“The very idea that a group of 20 US scholars from different<br />
disciplines could be brought to Germany and France for a twoweek<br />
period of consultation, discussion and travel oriented to<br />
explaining and contextualizing the problems of Muslim minority<br />
segmentation generated an excitement that carried us along, sure<br />
that we could accomplish our goals. Languages, distances, traffic –<br />
they were simply no problem for the intrepid band of scholars<br />
led by a fearless group of <strong>Fulbright</strong> professionals who, though<br />
small in number, seemed ever-present, and covered for each other<br />
