• only a single string of rods is used to connect
the probe or sampling tool to the rig
• after sample collection (or profile acquisition),
the entire string of rods must be removed from
the probe hole. Collection of samples at
greater depths may require re-entering the
probe hole, repeating the sampling process.
• typical diameters: 1 – 2.25" (2.5 – 5.7 cm)
