Dieser Fonds, im Jahr 2008 gegründet,
kümmert sich um den Erhalt des südamerikanischen
Regenwaldes und fördert
in der Amazonas-Region nachhaltige
Forstwirtschaft. Die Brasilianische
Entwicklungsbank (BNDES) verwaltet ein
Fondsvolumen in Höhe von 51 Millionen
Dollar (Stand Februar 2011), 49 Millionen
davon aus Norwegen, zwei Millionen aus
Deutschland. Bis 2015 hat sich Norwegen
verpflichtet, insgesamt eine Milliarde
Dollar in den Amazon Fund einzuzahlen.

This fund was set up in 2008, specifically
for the preservation of the South American
rainforest, and supports sustainable
forestry in the Amazon region. The Brazilian
Development Bank (BNDES) manages
a funding volume of 51 million dollar (as
at February 2011): 49 million dollar from
Norway plus two million from Germany.
Norway has pledged to contribute a total
of one billion dollar to the Amazon Fund
by 2015.
Die 192 Unterzeichner des Kyoto-Protokolls
haben diesen Fonds 2001 gegründet,
um den Entwicklungsländern die Anpassung
an den Klimawandel mit konkreten
Projekten zu erleichtern. Allerdings wurden
erst 2010 erste Vorhaben realisiert.
Der Fonds finanziert sich vor allem aus
einer Abgabe, die im Rahmen des Clean
Development Mechanism (CDM) fällig
wird, sowie aus freiwilligen Spenden. Das
Fondsvolumen lag Anfang 2011 bei 225
Millionen Dollar.

The 192 signatories to the Kyoto Protocol
set up this fund in 2001 to make it easier
for developing countries to adapt to climate
change through practical projects.
However, the first actual projects were
only implemented in 2010. The fund is
primarily financed by CER credits issued
under the aegis of the Clean Development
Mechanism (CDM), as well as by voluntary
donations. By early 2011, the fund had resources
of 225 million dollar.
Im Jahr 2008 beschlossen die G8-Staaten
gemeinsam mit der Weltbank, diesen
Fonds aufzulegen. Genau genommen
zwei Fonds, den Clean Technology Fund,
der neue Technologien zur Vermeidung
von Treibhausgasemissionen zur Marktreife
fördert, und den Strategic Climate
Fund, der neue Ideen und Anreizmechanismen
für die Entwicklungszusammenarbeit
unterstützt. Für beide Fonds haben
die G8 6,2 Milliarden Dollar zugesagt, 3,7
Milliarden Dollar sind bereits eingezahlt.

The G8 nations and the World Bank resolved
to establish this fund in 2008 –
or more precisely, two funds: the Clean
Technology Fund, which helps to bring
new technologies for the avoidance of
greenhouse-gas emissions to market, and
the Strategic Climate Fund, which provides
support for new ideas and incentive mechanisms
for development cooperation. The
G8 has pledged 6.2 billion dollar to the
funds, of which 3.7 billion dollar have
been paid to date.
