In July 2013, Marinepool proudly
announced a new and exciting 3 year
partnership with Spindrift Racing as the
“Official Clothing Supplier” of the high profile
French/Swiss multihull racing project.
Spindrift Racing Team
Spindrift Racing Team, based in La
Trinité-sur-Mer (FRA), will exclusively use
Marinepool performance sailing clothing
and leisure wear across all three Spindrift
managed sailing projects: Ladycat D35,
skippered by Dona Bertarelli and a top
contender in all major competitions on
Lac Léman; Spindrift MOD70, winner of
the 2012 Multi One Design Championship;
and the maxi trimaran Spindrift 2
(formerly known as Banque populaire
V), recently acquired to conquer new
records.
The acquisition of the maxi trimaran
Spindrift 2 opens up new opportunities
for the Spindrift racing stable. After the
christening ceremony and presentation
of the legendary yacht in her breathtaking
new black-white-gold design, the giant
multihull ran through a series of training
sessions off the French coast before she
was ready to live up to her ambitions. The
kick-off of her first race was the Rolex
Fastnet Race in August 2013 that the
maxi trimaran won in 38 h 53 min and
58 sec.
Through this long-term collaboration,
Marinepool and Spindrift will work
closely together in the optimization of
Marinepool‘s performance sailing clothing
range and the development of new offshore
products tested by Yann Guichard,
one of the most experienced skippers in
multihull ocean racing, and his crew.

In February 2013 the Russian St. Petersburg
Yacht Club (SPBYC) and German
Norddeutscher Regatta Verein (NRV)
announced their cooperation in holding
the 2nd edition of the Nord Stream
Race, established in 2012. One of the
entries was campaigned by the “German
Offshore Challenger” (GOC) initiative, a
national project encompassing several
German clubs under the patronage of the
NRV, which aims for inaugurating a highperformance
and motivated young crew
to participate on the Swan60 “SGM” in
various events of the Gazprom Swan60
circuit.
Nordstream Race
The Nord Stream Race is organized
annually along the route of the Nord Stream
Pipeline in the Baltic, which delivers Russian
natural gas to Germany. While the first
edition was sailed from North to South,
the 2nd edition saw the yachts sail in the
opposite direction from Flensburg, around
Bornholm and non-stop to the finish in St.
Petersburg. An exciting match race competition
for the Gazprom Swan60 Class
was organized as a warm up in the natural
sailing racing arena of Flensburg. The race
was open for the Gazprom Swan60 Class
and yachts rated under ORC handicap
and won by the British Swan60 Team with
Skipper Adrian Stead.
The Baltic is renowned for its challenging
conditions in autumn. Marinepool is the
official clothing partner of the event and
Marinepool performance ocean sailing
clothing kept the crews in the Swan60s
fleet dry, warm, comfortable and able to
focus on their competition with opponents
and the fight with the elements even when
the going got tough.
The 3rd Nord Stream Race in 2014 will
be sailed from St. Petersburg to Warnemünde
via Helsinki with the start in the end
of May.

Extreme Sailing SeriesTM
The Extreme Sailing Series has changed
the way sailing is seen with an
unique concept: the ‘stadium racing’
with short-style races, pioneered by
OC Sport, the circuit brings the racing
right in front of the spectators and VIP
guests. It is the only truly global sailing
circuit spanning 3 continents and visiting
up to 8 iconic venues per season.
The Series gathers the world’s best
sailors - Olympians, world champions,
record holders and round the world
sailors - racing against each other
on identical high-speed catamarans
capable of speeds over 35 knots per
hour (65 km/h). ‘Flying’ a hull in as little as
8 knots of breeze (15 kp/h), the 40-foot
long carbon speed machines require
coordination, finesse but also sheer muscular
power from the crews who battle
it out on the water in up to 10 races a
day. The Extreme Sailing Series offers
a unique hospitality experience to its
guests who can actually join a professional
race crew and team to sail in the
“guest sailor” position, and experience
an adrenalin-fuelled ride of their life as
part of the crew during racing.
Apart from being the the ”Official Clothing
Partner“ of the Extreme Sailing Series
Marinepool has built a strong reputation
for outstanding quality, excellent service

STG – The Story behind the Scene
Partnerships with world-class athletes
and teams in sailing have always been
an intrinsic part of Marinepool’s approach
in the development of uncompromising
state of the art sailing gear. 2014 will
see the introduction of a new innovative
neoprene line targeting professional
dinghy racers. Marinepool and Sailing
Team Germany have gone to great
lengths – including wind tunnel testing –
in the development of the National Team
Series (NTS).
Sailors of STG came up with a long wish

its paces over a whole season. A constant
exchange with the Marinepool design
team, optimization of every aspect and a

suggestions were all part of the development
process.

What is the average length of a
marriage? What are the longest lasting
partnerships in sports? The partnership
between the Austrian Sailing Federation
and Marinepool would probably qualify
for the record books, going back to
1996.
When the current Olympiad ends, the
partnership will have lasted incredible
20 years. And who knows, as the saying
goes: never change a winning team.
Austrian Sailing Federation
Since Marinepool first teamed up with
the Austrian Sailing Federation, Austrian
sailors have won medals at European
and World Championships as well as
no less than three gold and one silver
medals at Olympic Games and scored
countless other top results. And they
continue to excel and to be one of the
best sailing teams around; at the time
this catalogue was printed small land
locked austria was 2nd in the ISAF
World Sailing Rankings with a top spot
in two classes, beaten only by Australia
and ahead of the mighty British sailing
team.
Austrian athletes not only have
contributed to the history books, but
also had a large influence on the development
of the dinghy wear and technical
clothing in the Marinepool range.
