SILFAR ® SE 4 ist eine Silicon-Antischaumemulsion.
Diese wird für den Einsatz im Lebensmittel- und Pharmabereich,
in Fermentationsprozessen sowie Agroformulierungen
empfohlen.
Anwendung
Was den pharmazeutischen Bereich betrifft, so findet
die Simethicone-Emulsion SILFAR ® SE 4 Anwendung in
Antiflatulenz- (Carminativa) und Antacidpräparaten,
wobei diese einerseits als Antischaummittel Blähungen
im Verdauungstrakt verhindert bzw. abbaut, andererseits
einen Schutzfilm z.B. auf der Magenschleimhaut
ausbilden kann. Vielfach wird sie auch mit Fermentpräparaten
kombiniert.
Bei der Vorbehandlung von Patienten mit Präparaten,
die das entschäumend wirkende Produkt SILFAR ® SE 4
enthalten, eleminiert dieses bei Röntgen-, Ultraschalloder
gastroskopischen Untersuchungen Störungen, die
durch Blasenbildung auftreten können.
Daneben bietet es sich zur Herstellung von Flüssigpräparaten
in Suspensionsform an.
Im veterinärmedizinischen Bereich kann SILFAR ® SE 4
zur Vorbeugung gegen Rinder- und Schafsmeteorismus
eingesetzt werden, z.B. durch Zudosierung zum Wasser
an der Tränke.
In Fermentationsprozessen sowie der nachgeschalteten
Aufarbeitung (Wirkstoffextraktion, Lösemittelrückgewinnung
usw.) dient SILFAR ® SE 4 zur Lösung von
Schaumproblemen, insbesondere wenn der Einsatz
USP-gerechter Produkte zwingend erforderlich ist.
Im Lebensmittelbereich wird SILFAR ® SE 4 in stark
schäumenden, wässrigen Systemen verwendet (z.B.
Gemüseverarbeitung, Getränkeindustrie etc.).

Characteristics
SILFAR ® SE 4 is a silicone antifoam emulsion. It
is recommended for the food and pharmaceutical
sectors, fermentation processes and agrochemical
formulations.
Applications
SILFAR ® SE 4 simethicone emulsion is used in antiflatulence
(carminative) and antacid preparations. It
works by acting as an antifoam agent to prevent or
relieve flatulence in the alimentary canal and by forming
a protective lining on e.g. the gastric mucous
membrane. It is often combined with fermentation
preparations.
When administered to patients, preparations containing
the antifoam SILFAR ® SE 4 eliminate any flatulence
that might hinder X-ray, ultrasonic or gastroscopic
examinations.
SILFAR ® SE 4 may also be used to make liquid
preparations in suspension form.
It serves in veterinary medicine to prevent bloat in cattle
and sheep and may be added to the water in the trough.
SILFAR ® SE 4 is also an antifoam in fermentation and
downstream processes, such as active-ingredient
extraction and solvent recovery, especially when USP
compliant products are mandatory.
SILFAR ® SE 4 is used in strongly foaming, aqueous
systems in the food sector (e.g. vegetables processing,
beverages).

Lagerbeständigkeit
SILFAR ® SE 4 besitzt eine Lagerbeständigkeit von mindestens
6 Monaten, sofern die Originalgebinde dicht
verschlossen zwischen 0 �C und 25 �C gelagert werden.
Das Mindesthaltbarkeitsdatum der jeweiligen Charge
ist auf dem Produktetikett angegeben.
Eine Lagerung über den auf dem Produktetikett angegebenen
Zeitraum hinaus bedeutet nicht notwendigerweise,
dass das Produkt unbrauchbar ist. Eine Überprüfung
der für den jeweiligen Einsatzzweckerforderlichen Eigenschaftswerte ist jedoch in diesem Falle aus
Gründen der Qualitätssicherung unerlässlich.
Storage stability

SILFAR ® SE 4 has a shelf life of at least 6 months if
stored in tightly closed original containers between 0 �C
and 25 �C. The “Best use before end” date of each batch
isshownontheproductlabel.
If the material is kept beyond the shelf life recommended
on the product label it is not necessarily
unusable, but a quality control should be performed on
the properties relevant to the application.

Gesetzliche Regularien
SILFAR ® SE 4 erfüllt die Anforderungen der Monographie
„Simethicone Emulsion“ (USP24), die enthaltenen
Komponenten die der Ph. Eur. 3.
SILFAR ® SE 4 enspricht FDA § 173.340 „Defoaming
Agents“ als „Secondary Direct Food Additive Permitted
in Food for Human Consumption“.
Der InhaltsstoffDimethylpolysiloxan in SILFAR ® SE 4 ist
unter der E-Nummer E 900 im Amtsblatt der Europäischen
Gemeinschaft L 61, 38. Jahrgang, März 1995,
gelistet und ist damit in der EG als direktes Lebensmitteladditiv
unter der Einhaltung der für Polydimethylsiloxane
(E 900) gültigen Restriktionen zulässig.
SILFAR ® SE 4 entspricht den Empfehlungen des BgVV
„XV.Silicone“.
Des weiteren erfüllen die Komponenten von SILFAR ®
SE 4 die Kriterien für „exemption of a tolerance under
40 CFR section 180.1001 (c) and (d)“.
Es sind die jeweiligen länderspezifischen Regularien zu
beachten.
