TIRE CASING
MANTEL/KARKASSE
Tire casing is the fabric that the rubber compound adheres to. The fabric of the casing can be made in varying thickness and threads per
inch (TPI). Generally, the higher the TPI number, the more supple the tire sidewall will feel and flex. This means a more comfortable ride
compared to that of a lower TPI casing. The Casings can be treated and reinforced with various materials in order to achieve different
degrees of puncture resistance and ride qualities.
Der Mantel ist das Gewebe, das den Wulstkern umschließt und von der linken bis zur rechten Seite durchgeht. Auf dem Mantel sitzt auch
das Gummiprofil. Das Mantelgewebe kann in verschiedenen Stärken und in unterschiedlicher Dichte (Fäden pro Zoll = engl.: threads per
inch = TPI) ausgeführt sein. Die meisten Premiumreifen von Kenda haben eine Dichte von 60 TPI oder mehr, um viel Gewicht zu sparen.
Ein Mantel läßt sich aus verschiedenen Stoffen herstellen oder verstärken, um unterschiedliche Fahreigenschaften und Pannenschutz
zu erzielen.
IRON CLOAK. Eine leichte, aber dennoch sehr starke Schutzschicht, die von Wulstkern zu Wulstkern reicht. Alle Teile
des Reifens werden geschützt. Der hochwertigste Pannenschutz von Kenda!
IRON CLOAK. Kenda’s best puncture resistant material. Iron Cloak is a layer of material under the tread that runs bead
to bead. In addition to helping prevent punctures, it also adds strength to the sidewalls of the tire by adding minimal
weight to the tire.
CAP. ist eine zusätzliche hochwertige Pannenschutzschicht von Wulstkern zu Wulstkern um Durchstiche zu vermeiden.
CAP. is an added layer of high quality material that is under the tread area and runs from bead to bead to prevent pinch
flats.
IRON CAP. A layer of material that runs from bead to bead under the tread to prevent flats. IRON CAP combines some
of the technology from the top of the line IRON CLOAK material without all the added cost.

K-SHIELD. A layer of aramid and ceramic particles inside the tire under the tread area only. Designed to prevent
punctures. This is Kenda’s base level of puncture resistant material.
SCT. (= Sealant Compatible Tire) Kenda-Technologien wurden so modifiziert, dass Faltreifen mit Tubelesskit-
Flüssigkeiten als Tubelessreifen verwendet werden können. Durch ein dichteres Gewebe wird höhere Luftdichtigkeit
erzielt mit viel geringerem Mehrgewicht als UST Tubelessreifen.
SCT. (= Sealant Compatible Tire) Existing Kenda-Technologies were modified, making them now compatible with fluid
based tubeless conversion systems. The air density is improved by tighter rubber layers with only very little weight
increase. SCT tires are much lighter than UST tires.
KENDA UST. Kenda ist von Mavic zertifiziert, Reifen nach dem UST (Universal System Tubless) Standard herzustellen.
Tubeless Reifen haben einen geringeren Rollwiderstand und durch das Entfallen des Schlauches wird ein geringeres
Gewicht erreicht. Zudem kann der Tubeless Reifen mit weniger Luftdruck gefahren werden, wodurch eine bessere
Traktion und Dämpfung erzeugt wird.
KENDA UST. Kenda is certified by Mavic to build tubeless tires to the UST (Universal System Tubeless) standards.
Tubeless tires offer decreased rolling resistance for easier pedaling. By eliminating the tube, lower air pressure can be
achieved and the chances of pinch flatting is eliminated.

GUMMIMISCHUNGEN
Kenda engineers have developed a series of advanced rubber compounds that out perform regular rubber compounds in many
ways. Rubber compounds can be formulated to provide better grip, less rolling resistance and better puncture resistance. Choose a
compound that’s right for your needs and your cycling efficiency and enjoyment will improve.
Die Gummimischung ist die Spielwiese des Chemikers. Ingenieure von Kenda haben die besten Gummimischungen in der gesamten
Fahrradwelt entwickelt. Bei der Entwicklung solcher Mischungen standen Dinge wie Lebensdauer, Traktion, Gewicht, Rollwiderstand
und Pannensicherheit im Vordergrund
R2C. (= DTC für Rennräder) Zwei-Komponenten-Mischung für die Straße mit härterem Mittelbereich und weicheren
Flanken. R2C-Reifen eignen sich für die ganzjährige Verwendung.
R2C. (= DTC for racing bikes) Road double compound with harder center area and softer rubber at the sides. R2C
tires are usable for all season usage.
NRC. Natural Rubber Compound ist eine Mischung aus natürlichem und synthetischem Gummi, die für einen
perfekten Halt, Langlebigkeit und geringen Rollwiderstand sorgt.
NRC. Natural Rubber Compound is a mixture of natural and synthetic rubber for perfect traction, long life and low
rolling resistance.
STICK-E COMPOUND. Eine weiche "50 shore A Gummimischung" mit sehr langsamem ”Rebound-Effekt“. Dadurch
klebt der Reifen fast am Untergrund, wodurch Sie eine super Traktion beim Beschleunigen, in Kurven und beim
Bremsen haben. Sie finden sie in fast allen Kenda Premium Reifen.
STICK-E COMPOUND. A slow rebound rubber (50 shore A durometer) for the ultimate in grip and traction control.
The slow rebound rubber acts like a form of suspension that conforms to the trail, rock or roots surface instead of
bouncing off it. Used on almost all Kenda premium tires.
L3R und L3R PRO. Auf der Basis der hervorragenden L3R-Mischung wurde diese High-Tech Gummimischung
entwickelt, mit welcher ”der beste Kompromiss zwischen Leichtgewicht, Langlebigkeit und Rollwiderstand“ erreicht
wurde. L3Pro wird in vielen KENDA-Top-Reifen wie etwa Nevegal, Blue Groove, Small Block Eight, Konstrictor und
Karma eingesetzt.
L3R und L3R PRO. An upscale version of L3R blended together with Kenda’s high performance Motorcycle Rubber
Compounds. Benefits are extended tread life, a lighter tire and rolling resistance. Typically found on many of Kenda’s
high performance XC mountain bike tires and road tires like Nevegal, Blue Groove, Small Block Eight, Konstrictor and
Karma.
DTC. (= Dual Thread Compound) Die Reifen mit DTC haben 2 verschiedene Gummimischungen in einem Profil
vereint. Eine weiche STICK-E (50 shore A durometer) an den Seiten für guten Halt in den Kurven und eine härtere
L3R PRO (60 shore A durometer) in der Mitte für weniger Rollwiderstand und längere Lebensdauer. Sie finden DTC
z. B. beim ”John Tomac“- BLUE GROOVE DTC oder Small Block Eight.
DTC. (= Dual Thread Compound) The ultimate tread compound. Kenda’s L3R PRO compound (60 shore A durometer)
