A. Why Fume Extraction
Solder material contains different quantities of lead, tin, sinc, arsenic, cadmium, antimony and
colophonic or hydrazine fluxes, despending upon the alloy used. During the soldering process,
the liquified material releases smoke, gases and aerosols. The air is contaminated to such an
extent that in most cases the maximum concentrations allowed for substances such as cadmium
are exceeded. In addition, the fluxes crate formaldehyde and hydrazine – two substances classified
as carcinogenic. Breathing these harmful substances has a negative impact on the worker´s
health. Therefore they must be removed from the air before they reach the worker´s
breathing zone. The KEMPER – Purification System is specially designet for use at soldering
workplaces. It extracts the harmful substances at their source, and contributes to a better and
healthier work environment.
B. Function
The contamindated air is extracted by exhaust arms mounted to the work table or the wall, away
from the worker´s breathing zone. Hose then transfer the air into the extraction and filter unit.
Filtering is accomplished in three stages:
1. The pre-filter removes coarse particles
2. The particulate filter removes even the smallest particles, down to under 0,1 micron
in diameter (efficiency greater than 99,997 % DOP-Test)
3. The activated charcoal filter adsorbs gases and odors
Blowers then direct the air through an exhaust grid, which returns it to the workplace.
The cleaned air can be returned directly to the workplace.
However, in spite of the high efficieny, if you do not want to return the cleandes air to the
workplace, it can be exhausted outside using an adapter and the respective hose.
C. Safety Precautions
Caution:
When using electrical devices, the following basic safety measures must be followed
to prevent shock, inury or fire.
Read and follow these instruction before using the filter unit.
• Keep this Installation and Operating Manual handy
• Do not use the unit to extract easily flammable or explosive gases
• Do not use the unit to extract crrosive substances
• Do not expose the connecting cable to heat, oil or sharp edges
• Make sure the unit stands stable and secure
• Use only original equipment filters
• Do not operate the unit without filter inserts
• Contaminants in the extracted air will destroy the blower!
• Always unplug unit before opening it
• Never cover intake or exhaust openings
• Protect the unit from dampness
