Welcome to the Kraichgau,
Welcome to your race 2012,
Challenge Kraichgau becomes European Championship. For us, and maybe also for you, this was the
news of the year 2012. We are proud about having the opportunity to find the European Champion of
elite and age groupers on the half distance race here at Challenge Kraichgau.
This means, for you as athletes and for us as the Orgateam, that we have to try even harder because at
the weekend, when more than 3800 triathletes jump into lake Hardtsee and spend their time swimming,
biking and running, Europe as a whole watches us. The youngest ones are only 8 years old and take part in
the Sparkasse Junior Challenge on Saturday while the oldest participants aged 78 years takes part in the S
Distance race on Sunday.
Whether you are young or old, we are happy about every one of you who comes here and makes this race
successful. The Pros race for prestige and trophies. To all Age groupers we wish a nice race free of accidents,
so everybody reaches the finish line happy and satisfied.
I want to say thanks to the municipality and to the county of Karlsruhe, that did a great job and build the
foundation for our race.
Another Thank you I want to say to our partners and sponsors. Without this support coming from the economy
Challenge Kraichgau 2012 would not be possible.
Last but not least: a big Thank you to all our volunteers coming from clubs and organizations that faithfully
and with a lot of enthusiasm help everybody through the race.
In the end I want to ask you for something: Have a fair competition and enjoy the time here with us in the
Kraichgau…
