Prof. Dr. med. vet. et phil. II Michael O. Hottiger
Born in Zurich (Switzerland),
where he studied Veterinary
Medicine and Molecular Biology
(University of Zurich). He then
moved to the Howard Hughes
Medical Institute at the University
of Michigan (Ann Arbor, USA)
before accepting 1998 a position
as principal investigator at the University of Zurich. He
was promoted in 2002 to full professor for Molecular
Biology at the Institute of Veterinary Biochemistry and
Molecular Biology of the University of Zurich.
In 2001 he received the Dr. Ernst Th. Jucker Award and
in 2004 the PHOENIX Pharmazie-Wissenschaftspreis.
He is also co-founder of DUALSYSTEMS Biotech AG.
The research in Michael O. Hottiger’s group is focused
on the molecular mechanisms of NF-kappaB-dependent
gene expression during inflammation and metabolic
stress (metaflammation).

Professor Gattermann hat in
Düsseldorf, London und Boston
Medizin studiert und wurde in
Düsseldorf promoviert und habilitiert.
Er ist Arzt für Innere
Medizin mit dem Schwerpunkt
Hämatologie und internistische
Onkologie.
Nach der Habilitation setzte er seine Arbeit als Oberarzt
an der Klinik für Hämatologie, Onkologie und
klinische Immunologie (Direktor: Prof. Dr. R. Haas)
fort und war dort von 2000-2008 stellvertretender
Klinikdirektor. Prof. Gattermann wurde 2007 zum
Geschäftsführenden Leiter des Universitätstumorzentrums
(UTZ) der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf
ernannt.
