Die akademischen Qualifikationen und Kernkompetenzenüberdecken insbesondere die BereicheChemie, Elektrotechnik, Informatik, Maschinen bau,Physik und Werkstoffwissen schaft. Dem entsprechendumfangreich ist die moderne gerätetechnische Ausstattungder Labors.Seit April 2010 führt AC²T im Rahmendes Spitzen for schungs programmsCOMET („CompetenceCen tres for Excellent Technologies“)in der höchsten Exzellenzstufe(K2) das Projekt XTribologyüber einen Zeit raum von 10 Jahren.Die anwen dungs orien tiertenFor schungs themen sind hierbeiin 4 Forschungs bereichen (sieheAb bildung rechts) zu sammen gefasst.An XTribology beteiligensich mehr als 120 nationale undinternationale Partner.Jeder Forschungsbereich umfasst mehrere thematischähnlich orientierte „Multi-Firmen-Projekte“ und hierzuentsprechende „Strategieforschungs projekte“. DieThe AC 2 T research GmbH was founded as “AustrianCenter of Competence for Tribology” (AC²T) in July2002. The research activities in the frame of the Austriantechnology funding programme Kplus started inthe “Technology- and Research Center Wiener Neustadt”in October 2002.Approx. 120 employees are working at AC²T in theyear 2011. The academic qualifications and core competencescover, in particular, the scientific fields ofchemistry, computer science, electrical and mechanicalengineering, material science, physics. The moderntechnical equipment of the laboratories is correspondinglyextensive.Starting from April 2010 AC²T hasbeen leading the project XTribology– within the Austrian researchprogramme COMET (“CompetenceCentres for Excellent Technologies”)– which ranks in the highestexcellence class (K2) and is scheduledfor a period of 10 years.The application-oriented researchtopics are structured in 4 areas (cf.figure on the left). More than 120national and inter national partnersform the core of the XTribologyconsortium.Each area features several thematically similar “multifirm-projects”and to this corresponding “strategicresearch-projects”.Seite 7
