EditorialDear colleagues!In March this year we have experienced as a first highlight of our association activities, the further training seminar “Steel” at the companyBöhler. All participants met safe in Austrian “Kapfenberg” after their long distance trips marked by a new onset of winter. We used the firstevening for informative gathering.On the following two days, the entire process of the production of stainless steel onto finished steel products was presented very extensive.At four sites was deepened our knowledge in lectures and tours of the production facilities. Cutting steel rules and cutting plates used in ourindustry was the primary interest in “Mürzzuschlag”, “Waidhofen” and “Kemmaten”. Here only a few areas, for reasons of security or secrecywere spared.The seminar has sustained out to better understand the properties and machinability of cutting steel rules. In particular, the intensive discussionswith the staff of Böhler Uddeholm Precision Strip have contributed to discuss the demands from processors and optimization potentials. Onbehalf of the ESU I would like to thank you for the open atmosphere for discussion and for the warm hospitality.While the impressions of the steel seminar linger, the work of the ESU depends on the next, technically dominated event. In September, thisyear’s ESU Technology Forum will take place in Strasbourg. After announced restrictions on the use by to make struktural alterations to existingfair buildings at the location Luxembourg, the Board had decided to choose Strasbourg in 2013.Already at our last annual meeting, 2012 in Strasbourg, we were able to convince us of the good infrastructure between the hotel and thePalais des Congres. Very centrally located in the heart of Europe, exhibition space with a suitable exhibition grounds and tourist attractivenessencouraged the Board in the decision.The preparations by the ESU office and by the exhibitors are on a good path. We can, according to the list of competent exhibitors andadditionally needed floor space, already looking forward to a very attractive trade fair for our industry.
