The new D 1001 double twist buncher<br />
<strong>NIEHOFF</strong> has just recently introduced the latest addition to its<br />
D-series family of bunchers: The D 1001.<br />
This new buncher is designed in two versions: A copper buncher<br />
capable of processing stranded cable up to a maximum cross section<br />
of 50 mm² (1/0), and an aluminum version capable of producing aluminum<br />
strands up to a maximum cross section of 60 mm² (1.5/0). Lay<br />
lengths can be infi nitely varied up to 300 mm, while rotational speed<br />
can reach a maximum of 3,200 twists/min.<br />
The D 1001 is optimally suited for large wire rope lay strands and battery<br />
cables of copper and aluminum, and is available both in left and<br />
right-hand versions.<br />
With spool fl ange diameters up to 1000 mm, and spool widths up to<br />
750 mm, this buncher is capable of handling the widest of the DIN1000<br />
spools. Spool changeover is easily<br />
achieved using the electrical<br />
spool lifting mechanism and the<br />
pneumatically powered pintles.<br />
The D series family of bunchers allow full coverage of a wide range<br />
of bunched products from fi ne to heavy strands, i.e. 0.013 mm²<br />
to 50 mm², which is an advantage to minimize equipment cross training<br />
requirements of operators in the bunching department.<br />
The <strong>NIEHOFF</strong> bunchers are operator friendly and economical to<br />
operate. One major feature of this series of bunchers is the single bow<br />
design resulting in considerable energy savings and noise emission<br />
reduction compared to conventional bunching machines.<br />
The number of slip rings has been reduced through the use of telemetry<br />
for data transfer. Slip rings are used only for power transfer. The result is<br />
a reliable troublefree operation with reduced maintenance and downtime.<br />
Winding tension throughout the spool fi lling cycle is controlled via a<br />
load cell and dancer situated in the spool carrier. The driven haul-off<br />
