„YOU DON‘T HAVE TO BE WHO THEY

WANT YOU TO BE“

Where do the most homosexual people live?

Nowadays many homosexual people live in big cities. But in which cities do

most of them live? This question will be answered in the following.

Firstly, we want to tell you some important and interesting facts about this topic.

Berlin is the gay-friendliest city in Europe and a magnet for many gay

societies. Nearly 300,000 homosexuals inhabit Germany’s capital city and that’s

why there are so many possibilities for flirting with others. Munich was one of the

most important cities for gay people in the 70s, which is still noticeable today.

Moreover, in Hamburg there even exists a district for homosexuals. In this district

are many bars which have different topics and because of that there is a bar

for everyone.

Now we are going to talk about ten cities that accommodate the biggest gay

scenes. The first town is, as mentioned above, Berlin. Homosexuals were held in

concentration camps in the second world war but after that hiatus, the city

recovered very well and now Berlin is one of the gay friendliest cities in the

world.

The next city we want to elaborate on is Cologne. 10 percent of the inhabitants

are of different sexual orientation. In Cologne there are special bars for gay

people, which all revolve around different topics catering for all tastes.

Hamburg also has many of these cafes and bars which are as different as the

colors of the rainbow. That’s why Hamburg is designated as North Germany’s

capital city of homosexuals.

In New York there is a very interesting background story. During a police raid

in the Christopher Street in Greenwich Village a group of homosexuals bravely

resisted a discriminatory state power.

In addition, San Francisco is also traditionally ranked among the friendliest

homosexual places in the world. It is a place, where being gay is more

common than being heterosexual.

The next city we want to examine/shed light on is Amsterdam. In general,

Amsterdam is one of the most tolerant cities in the world. Right at the beginning

of the 19th century the Netherlands legalized homosexuality. Furthermore, it

was the first country that legalized marriage of homosexual couples.

For sure, these aren’t the only places, which have legalized the love between

two people of the same sex. Hopefully soon there won’t be any countries

which despise this kind of love.
