1. Honours Bachelor of Theology (Hons BTh)
Das Honours-Bachelor-Studium an der Unisa ist ein
Aufbaustudium. Es ist das erste Studienjahr nach dem
Bachelor-Abschluss. Bei dem Honours Bachelor ofThe-
ology muss man sich für eine theologische Disziplin

fach können Sie Nebenfächer (maximal 40%) an ande-
ren GBFE Instituten belegen und so verschiedene
Disziplinen kombinieren.
2. Master of Arts (MA) / Master of Theology (MTh)
Nach erfolgreichem Abschluss des akademischen Auf-
bauprogramms an einem GBFE-Institut kann sich das
Master-Studium an der Unisa in der gewählten Diszi-
plin anschließen. Die Master-Arbeit ist eine reine For-
schungsarbeit (etwa 150 Seiten). Die Masterstudenten
werden von einem Professor der Unisa und einem in
Europa wohnenden Co-Supervisor betreut. In vielen
Fällen kann die Master-Arbeit in Ihrer Muttersprache
verfasst werden.
Für Akademiker ohne formale theologische Ausbil-
dung bietet GBFE ein„Theologisches Grundlagenpro-
gramm“ zur Überbrückung an. Einzelheiten zum Ma-
ster-Studium und zum Aufbaustudium erfahren Sie bei
dem GBFE-Institut, das Ihre gewählte Disziplin vertritt.
Das Promotionsstudium besteht aus einer großen
Forschungsarbeit (mind. 250 Seiten) und setzt einen
Masterabschluss im gleichen Fachgebiet voraus. Die
an der Unisa eingeschriebenen Doktoranden werden
üblicherweise von einem Professor der Unisa und
einem in Europa wohnenden Supervisor betreut.
Degrees
The University of South Africa offers three postgraduate
degrees: 1) Honours Bachelor, 2) Master, 3) Doctor.
The Honours Bachelor Course at Unisa is a postgraduate
programme. It is the first year of study following the
Bachelor’s degree. For the Honours Bachelor of Theology
you have to choose one theological discipline.
The GBFE colleges offer academic programmes which are
study part-time with GBFE and to continue in your profes-
sion. Depending on the chosen major subject, you can
take minor subjects (maximum 40%) at other GBFE col-
leges, and thus combine a variety of disciplines.
Successful graduates of an academic bridging pro-
gramme at a GBFE college can apply for the Master’s
Programme at Unisa in the respective discipline. The Mas-
ter’s dissertation is pure research work (about 150 pages).
The Master’s students are supervised by a professor of
Unisa and a co-supervisor living in Europe. In many
cases the Master’s dissertation can be written in the stu-
dent’s mother tongue.
3. Doctor of Literature and Philosophy (DLitt et Phil) / Doctor of Theology (DTh)
For graduates without formal theological training, GBFE
offers a ’Theological Foundations Programme.’ This pro-
grammeservesasanaccesscourse.Youcanobtaindetails
of the Master’s programmes and the postgraduate course
at the GBFE college which offers your chosen discipline.
The doctoral programme is comprised of a large research
work (at least 250 pages) and requires a Master’s Degree
in the same specialization. The doctoral students are di-
rectly enrolled at Unisa and will usually be supervised by
a Unisa professor and a supervisor living in Europe.
