How Much Worse can it Get?
The AGBC is pleased to announce the restart of its popular Economist Lecture Series.
We cordially invite our members and guests to the traditional mid-December
economic lecture to appraise our members of the economic climate for the next year
and beyond.
On 19. December 2022 beginning at 7 PM in the Airport Club Frankfurt, Mr. Carsten
Brzeski, Global Head of Macro Research for ING Bank will update us on what might
be the economic situation for 2023 and beyond.
We all know that post-Covid world-wide inflation is rampant, the general supplychain
has been broken, energy prices are very high, and economic uncertainty is
volatile. Germany is not insulated from this. Adding to the already heightened
concern level is Germany´s high dependence on Russian sourced energy — especially
natural gas via pipeline, but also crude and refined petroleum products. The current
war between Russia and Ukraine of which the USA and other NATO members are
involved peripherally, only exacerbates these problems.
Mr. Brzeski in addition to working at ING Bank, previously was with ABN-AMRO
Bank, The Dutch Ministry of Finance, and the European Commission. He is a 2019
JFK Memorial Policy Fellow at Harvard University, Cambridge, MA. In addition, he
is a member of the Advisory Council on International Affairs for the Dutch
Government and Parliament.
Mr. Brzeski studied at the Freie Universität, Berlin; Northeastern University, Boston,
MA; and Harvard University.
