Als Dozentin genießt sie

Zur Zeit arbeitet sie unter anderem
im Team von Großbritanniens
Next Topmodel und
demnächst für die amerikanische
Staffel dieser Show.
Victoria Lee already discovered
her enthusiasm for camouflage
make-up during her
studies at Stamford College

Jos Brands studied the make-up
artist’s craft at the
Antwerp Royal Opera and has
worked in the film, television,
theatre, fashion photography,
design and advertising fields
throughout the course of his
career. Teaching is dear to his
heart and therefore he leads
seminars in airbrushing, body
painting and high-definition
make-up around the globe.

Auckland
Die gebürtige Niederländerin
Nicole Heydenrijk betreibt
in Neuseeland ein Studio für
Make-up, Special Effects, Face
und Body Art. Sie begann mit
Brustabdeckungen zu arbeiten,
um 3D-Effekte in ihren
Bodypainting-Arbeiten zu erreichen.
Mittlerweile produziert
sie Prosthetics auch für
internationale Schauspieler.
Born in the Netherlands,
Nicole Heydenrijk runs a
studio for make-up, special
effects, face and body art
in New Zealand. In order to
achieve 3D effects in her body
painting work, she started to
use prosthetics, such as breast
covers. She is now also producing
prosthetics for inter-
national actors.

Düsseldorf
Alexander Schier absolvierte
seine Ausbildung an der
Deutschen Oper am Rhein
in Düsseldorf. Hier ist er seit
dem Jahr 2000 als Ausbilder
und seit 2005 als stellvertretender
Chefmaskenbildner
tätig. Außerdem arbeitet er
für Film- und Fotoproduktionen
sowie als Dozent an der
Toneelacademie, der Theater-
Akademie in Maastricht.
Alexander Schier completed

Informationen für die Rekonstruktion
von Unfällen und
Verbrechen.
Dr. Benno Hartung specialises
in forensics at the Düsseldorf
University. The things that
make-up artists simulate
as special effects are the
things that he examines in
real life: gunshot wounds and
cuts, burns, decay and much
more. With autopsies and
expert opinions he provides
important information for the
reconstruction of accidents
and crimes.

Silicone, colour, airbrush or punching: in the Creative
Workshop experienced make-up artists give tips on
how to work with all of this. Getting to know new
things, trying out new techniques and testing materials
is the motto here.

„In Masken geht die Zeit“
Was Wolfgang Utzt macht, ist Kunst. Er
ist ein Meister der Maske, eine Legende
unter den Maskenbildnern. Als Chef-
maskenbildner am Deutschen Theater in
Berlin war er über Jahrzehnte an vielen Inszenierungen
beteiligt und hat die Arbeit
bedeutender Regisseure auf besondere
Weise ebenso angeregt wie herausgefordert.
Seine Character- und Gesichtermasken,
Figurinen, Grafiken und Entwürfe
haben Theatergeschichte geschrieben.
„Ich habe Masken nie als Selbstzweck hergestellt. Es sind die
Schauspieler, für die ich das alles eigentlich gemacht habe.
Das, was in der Werkstatt oder am Schminktisch entsteht, ist
zunächst ein handwerkliches Objekt. Seine mögliche Strahlkraft
erhält es erst durch den von Schauspielern ausgelösten
Kommunikationsprozess zwischen Bühne und Publikum.“

“In Masks the Times Proceed“
What Wolfgang Utzt does in his work is
true art. He is a master of make-up artistry
and a legend among make-up artists. As
Head of the Make-up Department at the
Deutsche Theater Berlin he participated in
many productions and has both stimulated
and challenged the work of important
directors in a special way. His character
masks and faces, figurines, graphics and
mask designs have made theatre history.
“I have never created a mask as an end in itself. My work is for
the actors, it´s them for whom I´ve actually done it all. What is
made beforehand in the workshop or at the make-up desk is,
at first, purely a craft object. The power of its radiant potential
is released only in the communication process, initiated by the
actor, between stage and audience.”
