Oberfläche einen wie zufällig anmutenden Charakter verleihen. Je nach Lichteinfall kommt es zu<br />
wechselnden Reflektionen. Durch eine spezielle Schleiftechnik wird die Fliese besonders sanft<br />

The secret of the Perlon Rips Twin is a harmonious blend of two contrasting materi<strong>als</strong>. The<br />
hard/soft and shiny/matte contrasts have been recreated by combining Polyurethane with<br />
Polyamide. The carpet design is clearly defined by the tough, high-sheen, non-textile material<br />
produced during a weaving process, creating a clearly identifiable third dimension. The outstanding<br />
material mix, which ultimately suggests the possibility of personalised designs, particularly<br />

darüber hinaus in punkto Nachhaltigkeit große Qualitäten aufweist. Sie gewährleisten eine<br />
hohe Individualität, da durch das Drückverfahren sichtbare und immer unterschiedliche<br />
Arbeitsspuren hinterlassen werden. Für die Jury ist LINGOR eine traditionelle Verarbeitungstechnik<br />
im neuen Kleid: Phosphoreszierende (auch wenn kein Phosphor mehr enthalten<br />
ist) und nachleuchtende Pigmente in poetischem Kontext: Je länger das Licht brennt, umso<br />

The LINGOR range of ceiling lights is manufactured by Authentics using a traditional metal<br />
pressing process and is made in enamelled sheet steel. LINGOR is a range of lamps, which<br />
can meet a wide variety of needs for lighting atmospheres from spots to diffuse lighting and<br />
<strong>als</strong>o exhibits great qualities in terms of sustainability. They ensure a high degree of individuality,<br />
as the pressing process always leaves behind different traces of the working of the<br />
material. For the jury, LINGOR represents traditional manufacturing technology with a new<br />
twist: phosphorescent (even if phosphor is no longer used) and luminescent pigments in a<br />
poetic context – the longer the light is left switched on, the longer and brighter a LINGOR<br />
continues to glow after it has been switched off.<br />

(pine) used in scaffold construction. The concept of this new recycling process involving<br />
building planks received a big response from the jury. Especially in terms of sustainability,<br />
this type of concept brings a special awareness of resources and recyclability in a different<br />
context. The preservation of mortar and colour residues and logos gives each product its own<br />
individual character.<br />

es schwer sei, diese, so wie hier erreicht, zu erzielen. Das Urteil: „Intelligente Materialverarbeitung,<br />

advantage it has over traditional plant pots is the soft, non-slip surface of the stand, which<br />
protects surfaces of all types from scratches. Another positive point cited by the jury was<br />
that the rubberised surface is far less prone to calcification than conventional alternatives.<br />
The distinctive contrast between planter and stand <strong>als</strong>o found favour with the jury.<br />

Recycling is <strong>als</strong>o important here, as the raw material is available in almost unlimited quantities<br />
and is 100% recyclable. It is likely that basalt will be used in the future to build wind<br />

35% höhere Effektivität pro Baum. Die Juroren betonten, dass dieses Prinzip nicht nur wegen<br />
der besseren Nutzung der Ressourcen umweltfreundlich ist, sondern auch im Hinblick auf den<br />
Schutz tropischer Regenwaldhölzer <strong>als</strong> großer Fortschritt gesehen werden kann.<br />

special dyeing process, it is possible to achieve seamless areas without perceptible transitions.<br />
This means that even cheaper timbers get a high quality appearance. Moreover,<br />
the manufacturer scores from a completely new approach to veneer sourcing. The Mix<br />
Match principle results in an efficiency increase per tree of up to 35%. The jurors emphasized<br />
that this principle is environmentally friendly not only due to the improved use of resources<br />
but can <strong>als</strong>o be seen as a major advance in terms of protecting the tropical rainforest.<br />

aus wieder verwertbarem Papier gefertigtes Pappmaché. Dies in Verbindung mit der geschwungen<br />
Form stellt ein Novum im Umgang mit Pappmaché dar. Der wellenförmige Karton verschließt<br />
die Schachtel und steift sie gleichzeitig aus. Dabei lässt sie zu, dass der Griff auf der<br />
rechten Seite heraus sticht und „begriffen“ werden kann.<br />

The Ergon brand has enjoyed a high profile as a developer of ergonomic bicycle handles for<br />
some considerable time now. Their mission is to make their products ‘comprehensible’ to<br />
their customers in an ecologically and economically, responsibility-conscious manner. The<br />
new grip wrapping achieves this objective thanks to an innovative paper processing technique.<br />
The basic structure of the wrapping consists of papier-mâché made of recycled paper.<br />
This, together with a curved design, represents a novel way of using papier-mâché. The<br />
wavy cardboard simultaneously se<strong>als</strong> and stiffens the pack, whilst allowing the grip to protrude<br />
on the right side for the rider to hold.<br />

wollte, äußerte den Wunsch, ein auffälliges, selbstbewusstes Gebäude zu planen und<br />
umzusetzen. Die finanzielle Vorgabe war klar: 1000 €/ m². Außerdem sollte architektonisch<br />
ein Höchstmaß an Homogenität erreicht werden – ohne eine erkennbare Differenzierung<br />
zwischen Wänden, Boden oder Decke. Dazu wurde eine Beschichtung gewählt, die normalerweise<br />
im Brückenbau eingesetzt wird. Die den temporären Bau umschließende Beschichtung<br />
lässt keinerlei Fugen mehr erkennen und ist trotzdem luftdurchlässig. Die Jury war sich einig:<br />
Hervorragende Materialübertragung und innovative Umsetzung.<br />

A property developer who wanted to have an info box installed in a new housing development<br />
expressed a desire to plan and build a distinctive, self-aware building. The financial<br />
target was clear: € 1000 / m². Architecturally, the aim was to achieve a high level of homogeneity<br />
– without a discernible differentiation between walls, floor or ceiling. For this a coating<br />
was selected, which is normally used in bridge building. The coating, which surrounds the<br />
temporary structure, hides all the joins but is still air-permeable. The jury was in agreement -<br />
outstanding material choice and innovative implementation.<br />

Fasern einer PET-Filzmatte produziert. Das Herstellungsverfahren erfordert weder zusätzliche<br />
Stoffe wie Leim oder Harz, noch sonstige Teile wie Schrauben oder Verstärkungselemente.<br />
Der Filz ist vollständig recycelbar und besteht weitestgehend aus benutzten PET-Flaschen.<br />
Dabei fühlt er sich gerade durch seine Materialdicke angenehm weich an. Das Material wird<br />
über die Form gestülpt und erhitzt, wird gleich fest verschmolzen und ist somit stabil. Die Jury<br />
hat das Konzept der einfachen wie intelligenten Herstellung vollends überzeugt.<br />

NOBODY is produced in a single manufacturing process through thermally pressing polymer<br />
fibres of a PET felt pad. The manufacturing process requires neither added materi<strong>als</strong> such<br />
as glue or resin nor other components like screws or reinforcing elements. The felt is 100%<br />
recyclable, is made, as far as possible, from used PET bottles and feels pleasingly soft, specifically<br />
due to the thickness of the material. The material is pulled over the form and heat set<br />
for stability. The jury was extremely impressed by the concept of this simple but intelligent<br />
production process.<br />

auf synthetische und umweltbelastende Materialien verzichtet. La Font du Ciel arbeitet<br />
mit einem innovativen Werkstoff, einem pflanzlichen Pergament, das zu 100% aus Hanffasern<br />
besteht. Das Pergament entwickelt bei der Verarbeitung eine nur zu 80% voraussehbare Form,<br />
20% entstehen zufällig. Dadurch werden laut Jury die problematischen Produkteigenschaften<br />
in einen Vorteil umgemünzt und es gelingt dem Hersteller, mit einer Serienproduktion Unikate<br />
zu schaffen.<br />

and environmentally harmful materi<strong>als</strong> have been avoided as far as possible. La Font du Ciel<br />
works with an innovative material, a 100% hemp fibre parchment. The parchment develops<br />
80% of its foreseeable form during manufacture, with 20% produced randomly. According<br />
to the jury, the characteristics of the product have been turned into an advantage and the<br />
manufacturers have succeeded in creating mass-produced unique items.<br />

sich rein äußerlich sichtlich nicht mehr von echtem Holz. Auch haptisch besteht durch die hervorragende<br />
Imitation kaum mehr ein Unterschied. Die Jury zeigte sich begeistert von der<br />
Qualität des Produktes und betonte die täuschende Echtheit, die es im Vergleich zu echtem<br />
Holz aufweist. Darüber hinaus zeigte es sich erstaunlich kratzfest und stoßresistent.<br />

Nature Skin, a product developed by LG Hausys, is a sheet of vinyl veneer with integrated<br />
embossing for furniture and surfaces. Purely in terms of external visual appearance, it’s<br />
impossible to tell the difference between Nature Skin and real wood. Nor is there any appreciable<br />
difference in texture thanks to the high standard of the imitation. The jury was enthusiastic<br />
about the quality of the product and emphasized its remarkable authenticity compared<br />
with real wood. It is <strong>als</strong>o surprisingly scratch- and impact-resistant.<br />

amongst the jury. The first thing they noticed in this continuation of the already well known<br />
POWER-TOP series was the improved design that made the item many times easier to handle.<br />
In addition, the outstanding combination of materi<strong>als</strong> came in for praise. The connector is packed<br />
with practical details and finished to a very high standard. It makes the installation engineer’s<br />
daily work easier and thus leads to shorter assembly times. <strong>Design</strong>, materi<strong>als</strong> and efficiency were<br />

drinking water, heating, gas and sprinkler with a push-fit pipe system. This reduces the effort<br />
involved in planning and logistics. The secret lies in the simple, quick and secure jointing technique:<br />
Cut to length, slip on the sleeve, open out the pipe and push in the fitting. Finally push<br />
the sleeve over the fitting using the special pressing tool - job done. This simple principle won<br />
over the jury completely. A push-fit system without welded seams for all the supply pipes in a<br />
building is extremely innovative and very user friendly. Furthermore the jury praised the clean<br />
manufacturing process without heavy met<strong>als</strong> or plasticisers - everything entirely recyclable.<br />

Resopal have developed their waterproof and ultra-light “SpaStyling” elements using a high-tech<br />
material from the automobile construction industry. These elements are not only suitable for floors,<br />
but can <strong>als</strong>o be used to create walls. When used as flooring the panels click together; for walls<br />
they are simply affixed directly to the substrate through the lip of the groove. Both fixing techniques<br />
are completely watertight. The jury was particularly impressed by the imperviousness<br />

components, each with a different function, feel and technical process. At the same time,<br />

neue Sicherheitsstandards, beispielsweise bei der Fluchtwegkennzeichnung in dunklen Räum<br />

as far as EHS requirements are concerned. This guarantees maximum possible absence of<br />
hazardous materi<strong>als</strong> and efficient use of resources. In addition, the safety aspects <strong>als</strong>o occupied<br />
a pre-eminent position for the jury. A fabric with phosphorescent materi<strong>als</strong> was seen as extremely<br />
innovative and could well set new standards of safety, for instance in emergency exit<br />

bronze with integrated “invisible” heat generation. This innovative development opens up<br />
new dimensions in the capture and use of solar energy. A variety of shapes allows the tile to be<br />
seamlessly integrated into an existing roof. The system immediately struck a chord with the<br />
judges. Cavities of this kind in roof tiles filled with liquid to take the captured heat directly to a<br />
heat pump were, they thought, new. The jury adjudged the product to be environmentally sensible<br />
and very innovative in terms of renewable energy use, since it not only captures and stores energy,<br />
but keeps the roof space cool into the bargain, as the energy is “swallowed up” by the tiles.<br />

des Werkstoffes wird eine druckknopfähnliche Verbindung hergestellt, mit der die einzelnen<br />
Elemente zusammen- und auseinandergeklickt werden können. Ein aufwändiges Montieren oder<br />
Löten in der Herstellung entfällt. Die Jury zeigte sich besonders von dem ausgefallenen Stecksystem<br />
begeistert und lobte die <strong>Design</strong>erin, sehr poetisch mit dem Material umgegangen zu sein.<br />

Rapid Manufacturing is the name of the process by which complex, three-dimensional designs<br />
created on a computer can be printed out and realised. As a prototype example, it has been used<br />
to produce an individual piece of jewellery in titanium. Because of the extreme hardness of the<br />
material, a push-button-type link is created, by means of which the individual elements can be<br />
brought together or pushed apart with a click. This avoids complicated assembly and soldering<br />
during manufacture. The jury was particularly enthusiastic about the unusual plug-in system and<br />
praised the designer for having dealt with the material in such a “poetic” way.<br />
