variable transmission, an accelerating moving
walkway, and a method of permanent composite
fabric forming for concrete. Other recent research
included the design of an intelligent, adaptive
building skin done in collaboration electrical,
mechanical and computer science faculty.
Rockwood served as the Principal Investigator
for University of Hawaii’s U.S. Department of
Energy’s 2011 Solar Decathlon competition. He
was recently named a Fulbright Specialist by the
Fulbright International Institute of Education, U.S.
Department of State.
David Rockwood was educated at the University of
Oregon and Princeton University. He is currently
Full Professor and Director of the Construction
Process Innovations Lab at the University of Hawaii
at Manoa School of Architecture.
