the American Academy of

violence by restoring

“I was a victim of domestic
violence, and I was
passionate about cosmetic
dentistry,” Halikias said. “I
have taken care of quite a
few victims that way, so I
thought I should give back
in my own community.”
Seven years ago, Halikias
founded the Chicago
Smile Foundation, an organization
that provides
free dental care to women
in local shelters so they
can have an easier time
getting back to work. If
these women have children,
Chicago Smile Foundation
will give them care
free of charge, as well.
