INVITATION
Dear Colleague
On behalf of the International Organizing and Scientific Committees
I am very honored to invite you to the Mediterranean Dental
Implant Congress 2008, which will be held in Crete, from 26th
to 29th June 2008.
After the great success of previous MDICs our intention again
is to achieve a higher scientific level with the participation of internationally
known colleagues, specialists in the various aspects
of oral implantology. The aim of the congress is to foster
international scientific communication and to encourage the
exchange of ideas in implant dentistry.
After three wonderful congresses in Corfu now Crete has been
chosen to host the Mediterranean Dental Implant Congress.
Crete, Europe’s most southern island, is blessed with a heavenly
diversity of nature, the offering of which inevitably also
make this trip to a special culinary experience. Crete is also the
ideal place to feel the power of history in the present day and
to discover the significance of home. Crete, the place Zeus, father
of the gods and considered as the god of hospitality, was
born, is an absolute holiday paradise. Those who have experience
the spirit of Crete always return.
After the last MDIC in June 2006, which was dedicated to our
late president Dr. Pantelis Bochlogyros, the presidents and the vice
presidents of the MDIC 2006 decided to found a new association to
support and to continue the next congresses. Therefore this is also an
invitation to join our efforts to keep the idea of the Mediterranean
Dental Implant Congress alive, as it was the vision of our friend Pantelis
Bochlogyros. Please be welcome as a member in The Mediterranean
Dental Implant Society.

Learn and train the current bone augmentation techniques for horizontal, vertical and 3 D
reconstruction of the alveolar ridge. Practice bone spreading, bone splitting and bone block
transplantation and fixation with Piezoelectric surgery (Piezotom – Acteon) and Stoma instruments.
Train your skills in sinus floor elevation. Learn about soft tissue reconstructions, like vestibuloplasty,
connective tissue grafts and GBR techniques. Place Xive implants with augmentations. After the
lecture and a short introduction about these techniques you have the opportunity to practice by
yourself on pig jaws. Use the chance of discussion with the experienced lecturer. Bring your own

WhiteSKY ZIRCONIA IMPLANTS: POSSIBILITIES AND FRONTIERS

Part 1: System presentation. The metal-free "brezirkon" implant whiteSKY from bredent medical has
been approved for medical use since the beginning of 2006 and has been successfully inserted by
implantologists since then. whiteSKY is particularly suitable for single tooth replacement and
interdental spaces. Especially in the region of anterior teeth, the white color of the brezirkon implant
whiteSKY allows to fulfill high demands of patients on aesthetic tooth and implant restorations.

Part 1: Concept presentation The use of SKY fast&fixed, the complete system for immediate
restorations in the edentulous ridge, allows to fulfill the wishes of patients for stable teeth in
numerous cases. Within just a few hours the happy and satisfied patient will leave the practice with
stable, implant-supported bridges - a simple, uncomplicated and favorably priced therapeutical
option. Making optimal use of the local bone. Thanks to the insertion of angled implants the SKY
fast&fixed concept allows to avoid additional anatomical problems and the patient’s existing bone
can be made optimal use of. As a result augmentation and sinus lift procedures are not required.
Frequently, insufficient bone height in the upper jaw in the region of the maxillary sinus makes
implant placement impossible. Thanks to the blue SKY implants that are inserted at a specific angle
along the maxillary sinus, the terminal abutment is distalized in the region of the first molar and thus
allows to prepare a perfectly supported bridge restoration. Especially in patients who have lost some
of their teeth quite some time ago, the residual bone height in the lower jaw above the mandibular
canals is mostly insuffi cient. Accordingly, the possible implant positions are limited to the region
between the foramina mentalis so that «classic» removable restorations with implants in regions 2
and 4 are selected. By making optimal use of the local bone, SKY fast&fixed allows to achieve a
favorable static position of the abutments. The implanted blueSKY titanium implants are particularly
suitable for the SKY fast&fixed concept even in cases of implant positions below the bone level in the
lower jaw. The newly developed osseo connect surface of the innovative blueSKY implants supports
osseointegration of the implants and the coronal structure results in considerably improved bone
stabilization. The proven conical, cylindrical implant design ensures high primary stability.

Friday 27 th June 2008
Half day tour which takes you to historical,
archaeological, traditional and modern places in the
region of Rethymnon. You will visit the Monastery of
Arkadi, the archaelogical sites of Eleftherna and the
village Margharites, where you can buy famous Cretan
pottery. Then the bus will bring you to Rethymnon to
see the highlights of the town. This tour is free for the
registered accompanying persons.

The student fee entitles the delegate to all the items covered by the
standard delegate fee, as listed above. A letter must accompany
applications from the applicant’s University confirming his or her
student’s status. Students are defined as participants who are full time

GENERAL INFORMATION GENERAL CONDITIONS
The total amount due, as calculated on the registration form, must be
transferred, paid by cheque or by credit card, when the registration
form is mailed. The registration of application will only be accepted
when full payment has been received.
For written cancellation of registration received by March 31st
2008: the total amount will be refunded except the administration
charges of Euro 50. Between April 1st and May 15th 2008: 50%
cancellation fees will apply plus the administration fee. After May
16th 2008: no refund will be made. All refunds will be processed
after the Congress.
A certificate of attendance will automatically be given to all
registered participants.
The registration desk and congress secretariat will be located in
the entrance of the Grecotel Creta Palacel Hotel and will be
open from 26th June 2008 at 09.00 a.m. After this, the desk will
be open during the congress hours. Conference documents,
tickets and other material will be issued to the delegates upon
presentation of the registration confirmation papers.
An exhibition of implant systems and materials, surgical and
prosthetic instruments, diagnostic tools, medication and
literature gives the participants to the congress the opportunity
to get in touch with the latest developments. The sponsoring by
the industry contributes to the success of the congress.

The official congress currency is Euro and all congress payments must be
made in Euro. Foreign currencies and travelers cheques can be exchanged
at all banks and the hotel. Credit Cards are widely accepted in hotels,
restaurants and shops.
Those delegates who might need an Invitation Letter which will enable them
to obtain visa, are kindly requested to write to the Congress Secretariat.
This letter serves only as a facility for obtaining visa and/or permission to
attend the congress and do not indicate obligation to cover fees or
expenses.

Applications will be registered and confirmed on receipt of
payment of total registration and supplementary fees.
The organisers advice all congress participants to reserve hotel
rooms as soon as possible to guarantee accommodation in
Corfu, since June is considered as high season and most
hotels are heavily booked with allotments. The available
rooms at the Congress Hotel are limited. In case there are no
more available rooms, your reservation will be transferred to
the hotel of the next available category.
