Bouquets of the Week
Glenmore Gazetta
Glenmore Road Public School Newsletter
Congratulations to all of our students for their enthusiastic participation in the athletics carnival on Monday.
A big thank you to Mrs Ortolani and Ms Wieden for their organisation of this event. Thanks also to those
parents who stepped in and lent a hand.
Doesn’t the rainforest look fabulous!! An enthusiastic group of parents volunteered their time on Sunday to
attend the working bee to prepare the rainforest for further work as part of the school master plan. Thanks
to Tim P & Harriet P, Doug T & Anna P, Riya R, Kathy O & Lloyd R, Martin H & Lee H, Anton S, Fiona J, Kevin
C, Kevin P, Jane W, Anton S and John R for all of their hard work.
Well done to our latest group of outstanding readers - Frankie C and Ted P. Both of these children have
completed the Principal’s Reading Challenge 2012. (A reminder that to be eligible to participate in the
Principal’s Reading Challenge, children must have completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge first.)
Glenmore Garden News
As part of National Tree Day, Glenmore Road Public School has won a Native Garden from Woollahra Council.
The garden will be planted on Friday 27th July 2012. The Environment Committee representatives will take
part in the planting of the garden. This garden will complement the existing native garden and continue the
great work of the garden club. The native garden is located at the front of the school. Congratulations and
thank you to Miss Noble and Anna P who were responsible for preparing and writing the submission.
Maintenance Update
You will have noticed that there was much activity on site during the school holidays. All of the windows,
doors, eves and gutters in Block C (Year 1&2) and Block B (K, Year 2-4) have been painted. Each year,
schools are given an allocation of funds to undertake maintenance work. Given that many of the windows
were peeling and were becoming increasingly exposed to the elements, it was deemed that painting of these
buildings was a priority. The fire door, located at the top of the fire stairs, is due to be replaced this week.
Once this job is completed it will give the appearance of the school a much needed boost. The allocation of
maintenance funds for 2011-2012 & 2012-2013 was used to complete this work.
You will also notice that fencing is still present in the middle playground. Work is being carried out to rectify
stormwater issues on the school site. During heavy rain, the stormwater backs up and the top playground
floods. Hopefully these issues will be resolved quickly.
Grandparent’s Day & Art Show Launch
Grandparent’s Day and our school Art Show Launch are scheduled for next Thursday 2 August commencing at
9.30am. Grandparent’s Day is an opportunity for grandparents to come into the school and visit their
grandchild’s classroom. This year, we are also combining this with our Art Show launch, where every child in
the school has produced a piece of art which will be on display in the hall. Art works can be purchased by
grandparents or parents with all proceeds going towards updating computers and IT in the school. Children’s
artwork can be purchased for a minimum $15 donation.
The day will run as follows:
9.30am Children and grandparents to classrooms for participation in class based activities.
10.30am Whole school assembly in top playground. Awards for the week to be handed out. Official opening
of Art Show.
11.30am Morning tea served in the hall for grandparents.
11.50am Art show open for children to show grandparents their artwork.
There will also be an evening launch on Thursday 2 August from 5pm. The choir will perform, followed by an
official opening. This will provide an opportunity for working parents to view the show until 7pm.
Glenmore Road Public School Newsletter
2013 enrolment and as such, we need to plan accordingly. If you have a child that will be enrolling at
Glenmore Road Public School for the first time in 2013 (K-6) can you please complete an enrolment form
and return it to the school promptly. Likewise, if you know of a neighbour, relative or acquaintance that
wishes to enrol in 2012, please direct them to the school website to download an enrolment form. Enrolment
forms are available at http://www.schools.nsw.edu.au/media/downloads/gotoschool/enrolment/detsef.pdf.
Similarly, if you no longer require a place at Glenmore Road Public School in 2012, can you please advise the
school in writing as soon as practicable. Numbers have an impact on staffing and organisation and we
appreciate your cooperation in keeping us informed.
ordering these foods twice each week, we would encourage parents to consider that these are occasional
foods as defined by the Nutrition in Schools Policy.
Glenmore Road Public School P&C
Working Bee: Despite the early rain, the working bee went ahead on Sunday. Thank you to all
the busy worker bees (Anton Stanish, Doug Thompson, Fiona Jennings, Jane Williams, John
Rouse, Kevin Curran, Kevin Pinkstone, Lee Kelly, Lloyd & Kathy Richards, Martin Hadley, Riya
Rapp & Tim Price) and their offspring for the massive efforts. Thank you also to Anna Pagel for
coordinating all the productivity.
Morning P&C Meeting: The next P&C meeting will be held at 9.45am on Wednesday 1
August. The morning meeting is aimed at including those parents that are unable to attend
evening meetings. At this stage, the morning meeting is a trial only. Whether further meetings
are held during the day will depend on further feedback and consultation (and ultimately a
majority vote at a P&C Meeting). I encourage those parents that are unable to attend evening
meetings to come along on 1 August. The agenda is included below.
Student Banking: Would you like to help with the School’s student banking program? A parent
volunteer is needed to attend the Commonwealth Bank each week to deposit students’ savings.
Please let me know if you can volunteer.
Class Lists: The P&C maintains class lists that are distributed each term by our helpful class
parents. The lists are used to facilitate contact and ease communication. To ensure these lists
are up to date, please advise your class parents of any changes. If you have not been included
on the lists and would like your details added, please send your email address, mobile and
home address to Peter Stepto at treasurer@glenmorerdpandc.org.au.
Enthusiastic worker bees lend a hand!

Glenmore Road Public School P&C
The P&C’s major fundraiser for the year will be a fete, called ‘Carnivale’, held in the School
grounds on Sunday 16 September from 10am-3pm. Please save the date now to ensure that
you can attend, enjoy the day and contribute.
Class Stalls: Each class has been assigned a stall to run. Class parents are looking for
volunteers to help prepare and run their class stall. So please get amongst the Carnivale
atmosphere by registering with your class parents to help out.
Odd Jobs & Equipment: In addition to volunteering at your class stall, we also need helpers
for a number of extra jobs and we also need to borrow equipment. Please let me know if you
can assist with any of the following:
Do you have talents as a face painter? If not, perhaps you have a relative or friend with
such skills;
Fancy yourself as a coffee hand? Sonoma baristas will be making the coffee but we need
volunteers to take the orders and collect the money (100% of which will be generously
donated by Sonoma to the School);
 ‘Roll up, roll up buy your tickets here’ - Ticket sellers will be needed on the day;
Do you have a long trestle table in your garage or attic? If so, can we borrow it?
What about a small marquee or tent? A bit tricky to fit in a Paddington terrace I know, but
perhaps you might have access via your workplace or other contact?
Plenty more information will be distributed over the coming weeks concerning all things
Carnivale, so please ‘watch this space’ and do what you can to contribute to the event. Thank
you in advance for your support. It is through your effort and community spirit that we can all
continue to make the School the wonderful place that it is.
Kind regards
