<strong>Fiji</strong> has long been known for its high standards<br />
of rugby and, perhaps to a lesser extent, its<br />
championship golfer, Vijay Singh. Sport options<br />
are high on the agenda in <strong>Fiji</strong> and most of them<br />
wet, if not muddy. The island’s extensive river<br />
systems are ideal for white water rafting,<br />
canoeing, kayaking and bamboo rafting (on a<br />
bilibili). A full or half-day tour will take you into<br />
the volcanic region of Taveuni, <strong>Fiji</strong>’s third largest<br />
island, to take in some of spectacular high<br />
waterfalls in the interior. There is also great surf<br />
in <strong>Fiji</strong>, and those in the know will check out the<br />
swell at the sheltered reef of Cloudbreak in the<br />
Mamanucas for the perfect ride.<br />
The latest attraction on the Sigatoka River is a<br />
jet boat ride up the wide river taking in the<br />
some of the local countryside and including a<br />
visit to one of several waterside villages for a<br />
real cultural experience. The trip takes around<br />
three to four hours and apart from the fun of<br />
the safari itself, this is great way to experience<br />

rewarded by magnificent views of the park and<br />
a quick ride down on a body board.<br />
For those who prefer the aerial approach, zip<br />
lining in the rain forest just outside Suva, is a<br />
scary adventure in any weather. The experience<br />
is ‘enhanced’ by the enthusiastic team of helpers<br />
who fill you with stories of hidden snakes<br />
beneath the canopy and the amazing heights<br />
you will ride. In fact, all you need is a good head<br />
for heights and some strong gardening gloves.<br />
Hot air ballooning and sky diving are two<br />
