<strong>UITS</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Automotive</strong> <strong>Impact</strong> <strong>Tests</strong><br />

ENCOPIM’s Universal <strong>Impact</strong> Test System (<strong>UITS</strong>) is designed to per<strong>for</strong>m impact tests <strong>for</strong> vehicles’<br />

passive safety such as Pedestrian Protection EC631/2009 (Lower Leg<strong>for</strong>m to bumper test, Upper<br />

Leg<strong>for</strong>m to bonnet leading edge test, Head<strong>for</strong>m to bonnet and windscreen test, etc.), R12 (Body<br />

Block test, guided Head<strong>for</strong>m test, etc.), JNCAP, Knee <strong>Impact</strong>, FMH FMVSS 201U (Free Flight<br />

Head<strong>for</strong>m inside vehicles), FMVSS 226 (Ejection Mitigation), and the Pendulum tests (R17, R25,<br />

R21 and R80).<br />

Main features:<br />

■ High stiffness structure.<br />

■ Hydraulic or pneumatic propellers, as wished.<br />

■ Versatility. One machine <strong>for</strong> free flight and guided tests (modular design).<br />

■ Adaptability. Each Module can be integrated in existing customer’s test equipment.<br />

■ Works with Car Coordinate System (CCS). Thanks to integrated high accuracy laser measuring<br />

and scanning system, ENCOPIM’s Control System allows the trans<strong>for</strong>mation from Machine<br />

Coordinates System to CCS.<br />

■ 3D shape correction based on actual vehicle’s shape thanks to integrated high accuracy laser<br />

measuring and scanning system.<br />

■ Excellent Repeatability and Accuracy of the velocity without trials (0.8%) thanks to the closedloop<br />

control of the propellers and verified control algorithms.<br />

■ Positioning. Extremely precise linear (± 0.1 mm) and rotation (± 0.1º) movements are assured by<br />

linear ball guides, clamps, brakes, ball screw jacks and encoders. Up to 9 DOF allowed.<br />

The <strong>UITS</strong> is structured in 4 different Modules:<br />

ENCOPIM’s Controller System is specifically designed to obtain<br />

excellent accuracy without the need of trials. It consists of<br />

ENCOPIM’s SCDC closed-loop real time digital servo-controller and<br />

a test management PC where user interface software RTEST-<strong>UITS</strong><br />

is installed. It also includes the following hardware:<br />

- Desktop-type Test Management PC<br />

- Industrial radio remote control<br />

- Electrical motors servo controllers (drives)<br />

- Emergency-Stops<br />
