COMPANY HISTORY:<br />
1920s – 1940s<br />
• In 1926, the father-son team of William and Mack Stille opens the first <strong>Nugget</strong> <strong>Market</strong> in Woodland, CA.<br />
• <strong>Nugget</strong> <strong>Market</strong> expands into Knights Landing and Davis.<br />
• With a passion for produce, Mack travels the western states seeking the freshest, highest-quality produce<br />
available. <strong>Nugget</strong> eventually partners with United Produce to expand its selection.<br />
1950s – 1970s<br />
• Gene Stille becomes CEO / President of <strong>Nugget</strong> <strong>Market</strong>s.<br />
• <strong>Nugget</strong> establishes its everyday low prices (EDLP) format with great success.<br />
• <strong>Nugget</strong> introduces expanded takeout food in its Deli Department, placing emphasis on quality and<br />
convenience.<br />
1980s – 1990s<br />
• <strong>Nugget</strong> begins its long-standing partnership with Nor Cal Produce. Nor Cal allows <strong>Nugget</strong> to expand and<br />
diversify its selection, as well as elevate the level of quality.<br />
• A second <strong>Nugget</strong> <strong>Market</strong> opens on Mace Blvd. in Davis.<br />
• Wine stewards are brought on staff to assist shoppers with their selection.<br />
• <strong>Nugget</strong> <strong>Market</strong>s purchases two Alpha Beta stores in Sacramento.<br />
• Eric Stille becomes CEO / President, and Gene Stille serves as Chairman of <strong>Nugget</strong>’s Board of Directors.<br />
• <strong>Nugget</strong> expands its Deli Departments into full Kitchens staffed by professional chefs,<br />
including a Chinese Kitchen.<br />
• The Stilles open two Food 4 Less stores in Vallejo and Woodland, becoming the first independent grocer<br />
to operate both price-impact and conventional formats.<br />
Since 2000<br />
• <strong>Nugget</strong> <strong>Market</strong>s opens the first of its European-marketplace stores in Vacaville and<br />
another soon after in Davis (Covell Blvd.). The Vacaville store brings together a<br />
multi-faceted Kitchen and comprehensive wine selection featuring a wine tasting room.<br />
• <strong>Nugget</strong>’s Kitchens launch their European-style bread-and-pastry program.<br />
• The <strong>Nugget</strong> <strong>Market</strong>s on Riverside Blvd. in Sacramento moves to its larger location in<br />
Lake Crest Village on Florin Road. <strong>Nugget</strong> closes its Hillsdale location.<br />
• The Stilles purchase the vacant Sam’s Town Center in Cameron Park and open a<br />
Food 4 Less store, offering the largest meat counter on the Sierras’ Western Slope.<br />
• <strong>Nugget</strong> <strong>Market</strong>s opens a signature store in West Sacramento.<br />
• In 2006, <strong>Nugget</strong> <strong>Market</strong>, Inc. acquires three Ralph’s locations in the greater Sacramento area.<br />
• <strong>Nugget</strong> opens a full-scale bakery facility, allowing all stores to offer an expanded baked good selection.<br />
• <strong>Nugget</strong> <strong>Market</strong>s in Roseville opened in 2007 and <strong>Nugget</strong> <strong>Market</strong>s in El Dorado Hills and<br />
