Public Affairs (PA)
Aimed at a diverse range of constituencies
including the media and the general public,
PA’s activities foster greater mutual
understanding between Asia and Europe.
PA’s core areas of action are:
Media activities
Promoting Asia-Europe networks and co-operation among
mass media, and communicating initiatives by ASEF and
ASEM, through:
• Programmes dedicated exclusively to media practitioners,
aimed at developing the information flow and exchange of
perspectives on key issues between policy-makers and
journalists. This series of programmes includes:
- the Asia-Europe Editors’ Roundtable
- the Asia-Europe Journalists’ Seminar
- the ASEF Journalists’ Colloquium
Organised alongside major ASEM
meetings, they also contribute to
enhancing the visibility of the ASEM
process.
• Working with broadcasters,
documentary filmmakers and
producers to develop audiovisual
content, for effective knowledge
dissemination and outreach.
• Communication strategies for ASEF
projects and events including the
development of various types of
media co-operation and the selection
of international journalists for ASEF
projects.
Management and dissemination
of information
Enhancing awareness about Asia-Europe
relations by facilitating access
to information, through:
• The Asia Europe Journal which is
devoted to interdisciplinary research
on Asia and Europe in the social
sciences and humanities.
• The ASEM InfoBoard, the official
one-stop online platform for the
ASEM process and other matters
on Asia-Europe relations.

• Public outreach through various
events such as public lectures on
pertinent topics on Asia-Europe
relations by eminent speakers.
External communications
Promoting ASEF and developing a
coherent external image through:
• Official events to present ASEF
activities to external parties as well
as co-ordination of official visits by
dignitaries from the ASEM partners.
• The ASEF corporate website
(www.asef.org): a comprehensive
portal on ASEF activities.
• Corporate publications to disseminate
information about ASEF activities:
- ASEFNews, ASEF’s newsletter
published every trimester.
- ASEF Annual Report
• Innovative and customised publicity
collaterals to promote ASEF and
its activities.
