— INDIVIDUALS OF UNDUE INFLUENCE — LEN BLAVATNIK, USA/RUSSIA $10.1 BILLION [AS OF MARCH 2011] Wealth: Len Blavatnik is <strong>the</strong> Russian-American owner and president of Access Industries, a diversified company with investments in oil, coal, aluminum, petrochemicals, plastics, telecommunications, media, and real estate in Europe, North and South America. Blavatnik is a co-owner (with Mikhail Fridman and BP) of <strong>the</strong> Russian oil company TNK-BP. Blavatnik’s subsidiary, LyondellBasell Industries, is <strong>the</strong> world’s thirdlargest chemical company based on net sales. In 2007, Blavatnik purchased a $50 million Manhattan townhouse from billionaire Edgar Bronfman, Jr., head of <strong>the</strong> Warner Music Group. In May 2011, Blavatnik’s Access Industries purchased Warner Music Group, <strong>the</strong> world’s third-largest music company, for $3.3 billion. 85 Power Networks: Blavatnik is a member of <strong>the</strong> Global Advisory Board of <strong>the</strong> Centre for <strong>International</strong> Business and Management at Cambridge University, a board member of <strong>the</strong> Dean’s Advisors at <strong>the</strong> Harvard Business School and a member of <strong>the</strong> academic board at Tel Aviv University. A major donor to arts, culture and <strong>the</strong> sciences, Blavatnik is a supporter of <strong>the</strong> British Museum, Tate Modern, Royal Opera House, National Portrait Gallery and Museum of Modern Art. In 2010, he announced a multi-year donation of £75 million ($117 million) to <strong>the</strong> University of Oxford. Environment: Residents of Mossville, Louisiana, who suffer from cancers and o<strong>the</strong>r health problems, have named Lyondell and several o<strong>the</strong>r companies in a complaint that claims <strong>the</strong>ir health problems are due to extreme levels of dioxin compounds emitted by 14 local factories. 86 Access industries is not on <strong>the</strong> Dow Jones Sustainability Index and has no CSR Hub rating. - 29 -

He is a shareholder in Transmashholding, Russia’s largest maker of locomotives and rail equipment (in partnership with state-owned Russian Railways and Alstom, <strong>the</strong> French machine-building giant). Power Networks: Makhmudov owns 50 percent of Izdatelskiy Dom Rodionova (Rodionov Publishing House), which publishes <strong>the</strong> Russian version of BusinessWeek Environment: In 2009, hundreds of residents of Vladikavkaz, a city in <strong>the</strong> Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, protested against industrial emissions from Makhmudov’s Elektrotsink metallurgical plant, which <strong>the</strong>y say covered <strong>the</strong> city in a grey shroud.
