Flextime for attorneys: Offering flexibility in
work schedules is an important element of
the firm’s commitment to its lawyers.
Flextime is a rearrangement, but not a
reduction of, office hours. It includes
compressed time in which a lawyer
handles a full workload in fewer, longer
workdays, instead of a normal work day.
The lawyer remains responsible for a full
workload based on the current standard
schedule of billable and non-billable
requirements in his/her office and is
entitled to full compensation. The firm also
allows attorneys to work a modified
schedule of hours with a reduction of 10
percent to 40 percent of the billable/nonbillable
hour requirements and
corresponding office hours. The firm offers
a flex-place arrangement where it is
agreed that some or all of a lawyer’s
responsibilities may be handled at home or
some other agreed-upon location, within
the boundaries of licensing and other
restrictions.
Flextime for staff: Where possible, flexibility is
made available for starting and ending
time, length of work day, number of days
worked, and an option to work weekend or
evening hours.
