Flextime for attorneys: Offering flexibility in<br />

Flextime is a rearrangement, but not a<br />
reduction of, office hours. It includes<br />
compressed time in which a lawyer<br />
handles a full workload in fewer, longer<br />
workdays, instead of a normal work day.<br />
The lawyer remains responsible for a full<br />
workload based on the current standard<br />
schedule of billable and non-billable<br />
requirements in his/her office and is<br />
entitled to full compensation. The firm also<br />
allows attorneys to work a modified<br />
schedule of hours with a reduction of 10<br />
percent to 40 percent of the billable/nonbillable<br />
hour requirements and<br />
corresponding office hours. The firm offers<br />
a flex-place arrangement where it is<br />
agreed that some or all of a lawyer’s<br />
responsibilities may be handled at home or<br />
some other agreed-upon location, within<br />
the boundaries of licensing and other<br />
restrictions.<br />
Flextime for staff: Where possible, flexibility is<br />
made available for starting and ending<br />
time, length of work day, number of days<br />
worked, and an option to work weekend or<br />
evening hours.<br />
