Nomin<strong>at</strong>ed for two GLYPH Comic Awards (“Best Cover” <strong>and</strong> “Rising Star for Independent Publishing”)<br />
for work on the graphic novel <strong>The</strong> Hole: Consumer Culture, Vol. 1. <strong>The</strong> Hole won the 2009 GCA for<br />
“Rising Star for Independent Publishing”. <strong>The</strong> GLYPHS are given out every year <strong>at</strong> Temple <strong>University</strong><br />
for outst<strong>and</strong>ing work in the comics medium th<strong>at</strong> pertains to the depictions <strong>and</strong> concerns <strong>of</strong> African<br />
Americans.<br />
2008<br />
Awarded the Silver Award in the 37th Annual UCDA <strong>Design</strong> Competition for the Going Green section.<br />
<strong>The</strong> entry chosen was the <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Art</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Design</strong>’s BFA C<strong>at</strong>alog for the 2007 exhibition. <strong>The</strong> c<strong>at</strong>alog<br />
was co-art directed by Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Eric Benson <strong>and</strong> design by seniors in our graphic design program.<br />
46 entries were reviewed from around the world. Four silver awards were given.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Hole: Consumer Culture, graphic novel I wrote <strong>and</strong> illustr<strong>at</strong>ed in collabor<strong>at</strong>ion with Damian<br />

Organizer. Co-directed <strong>and</strong> organized a n<strong>at</strong>ional poster design competition called <strong>The</strong> Chance<br />
Project with colleague Robb Springfield th<strong>at</strong> dealt with celebr<strong>at</strong>ing the 50th anniversary <strong>of</strong> Brown v.<br />
Board. This was part <strong>of</strong> the Brown v. Board Jubillee.<br />
2006<br />
<strong>Design</strong>ed poster series for a Krannert Center for Performing <strong>Art</strong>s event called “Deep Azure”. <strong>The</strong><br />
play was a reading in the studio <strong>of</strong> the KCPA. It is an amalgam <strong>of</strong> Hip Hop <strong>and</strong> Shakespearean narr<strong>at</strong>ives.<br />
