<strong>Ann</strong> <strong>Arbor</strong> <strong>Summer</strong> <strong>Festival</strong> Welcomes <strong>New</strong> Board Members<br />

ANN ARBOR (September 20, 2012) – The <strong>Ann</strong> <strong>Arbor</strong> <strong>Summer</strong> <strong>Festival</strong> is pleased to announce four<br />

new board members: Tim Freeth, head of industry at Google; <strong>Ann</strong>e H. Leo, educator and<br />

community volunteer; Dana M. Muir, professor at the University of Michigan Ross School of<br />

Business; and Peg Talburtt, chief executive of the Lovelight Foundation.<br />

In addition to the election of new trustees, the festival’s slate of board officers for the new year will<br />

be: Jerold Lax, Pear Sperling Eggan & Daniels, as Chair; Michael S. Dubin, University of<br />

Michigan, as Vice Chair; Kevin S. McDonald, City of <strong>Ann</strong> <strong>Arbor</strong>, as Secretary; Tom Crawford, City<br />

of <strong>Ann</strong> <strong>Arbor</strong>, as Treasurer; and Erik W. Bakker, JPMorgan Chase, as Immediate Past Chair.<br />

Other festival board members for 2012-2013 are: Le<strong>Ann</strong> Auer, Christie Wong Barrett, Sally<br />

Churchill, Paul Cousins, John W. Farah, Erica Fitzgerald, Linda Girard, Susan J.D. Gott,<br />

John C. Hieftje, Mary Kerr, Jon Kinsey, Wendy Lawrence, Kenneth Magee, Margaret B.<br />

McKinley, Kimberly L. Scott, Ellie Serras, and Daniel Washington. Ending their board<br />

service are Lisa Bee, Peter Fayroian, Dawn H. Foerg, Stephanie Blackburn Freeth, James A.<br />

Kosteva, Sudha Maheshwari, Tony Nam, and Rich Sheridan.<br />

Brief bios on the new board members follows:<br />

Tim Freeth returned to <strong>Ann</strong> <strong>Arbor</strong> in 2008 to join the sales management team at Google in <strong>Ann</strong><br />

<strong>Arbor</strong>. Raised in <strong>Ann</strong> <strong>Arbor</strong> and a graduate of Huron High School, Tim and his family spent the prior<br />

nine years in Evanston, Illinois, where Tim and his wife Stephanie attended the Kellogg School of<br />

Management at Northwestern University. Prior to Chicago, Tim was on the East Coast for eight<br />

years, including college at Princeton University and early career jobs in Washington, DC. Tim and<br />

Stephanie have two children, Clara (5) and Dillon (2).<br />

<strong>Ann</strong>e H. Leo was raised in Uptown <strong>New</strong> Orleans, strongly influenced by the local musical and<br />

culinary tradition of the area. From a young age, she attended the <strong>New</strong> Orleans Jazz and Heritage<br />

<strong>Festival</strong> with her family, each year watching the festival grow to become the world-class event it is<br />

today. She graduated with a B.A. from Salem College and earned a teaching certificate from Tulane<br />

University, leading her to a career as an elementary school educator in the <strong>New</strong> Orleans, Madison,<br />

and Denver public school systems. Recently, she was a field instructor at the University of Michigan<br />

School of Education overseeing pre-service teachers. <strong>Ann</strong>e has also been an active parent volunteer<br />

at Burns Park Elementary and <strong>Summer</strong>s-Knoll School where her two children attended school. Since<br />

moving to <strong>Ann</strong> <strong>Arbor</strong>, almost 10 years ago, the Leo family has greatly enjoyed Top of the Park each<br />

summer.<br />

Dana M. Muir is a professor at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business where she<br />

teaches business law and ethics courses. She has published books and journal articles on legal topics<br />

related to management and investment issues, particularly in pension and 401(k) plans. She has held<br />

Presidential advisory appointments at the Department of Labor and Pension Benefit Guarantee<br />

Corporation and was a board member of the Aerospace Corporation. Prior to joining the Ross<br />

School she practiced law at national law firms based in Chicago and Detroit and held human<br />

resources positions at Chrysler Corporation. Dana shares her <strong>Ann</strong> <strong>Arbor</strong> home with Tracy Alan<br />

Grogan, and their cat, Belle.<br />

Peg Talburtt is the Chief Executive of the Lovelight Foundation, a private women’s fund, and serves<br />

as a philanthropic advisor to other clients. Between 2004 and 2010, she was Executive Director of The<br />

James A. and Faith Knight Foundation and from 1996–2003, was the President/CEO of the Michigan<br />

Women’s Foundation. Previously, she co-founded and was a Partner at Formative Evaluation<br />

Research Associates (FERA) where she directed many projects related to philanthropy, educational<br />

innovations, gender, and program evaluation. Currently, she serves on the boards of the Council of<br />

Michigan Foundations, The Academy of Sports Leadership, the Michigan League for Human Services<br />

and the Washtenaw Technical Middle College and was formerly a Chair of the Board of the Women’s<br />

Funding Network.<br />

The <strong>Ann</strong> <strong>Arbor</strong> <strong>Summer</strong> <strong>Festival</strong> is an exhilarating celebration of performing arts, outdoor<br />

entertainment, and community spirit. A boutique music and arts festival, the three-week gathering<br />

offers an array of ticketed and free events, both indoors and out, featuring a progressive mix of local,<br />

national, and international artists. Presenting over 100 events each season and attracting a diverse<br />

audience of more than 75,000 people, the festival continues to grow as a major cultural event in the<br />

<strong>Ann</strong> <strong>Arbor</strong> community, and as a leading multi-arts celebration that enriches the cultural, economic,<br />

and social vitality of the region. The festival’s 30th season runs from June 14 through July 7, 2013. For<br />
