1. ABOUT INTERNATIONAL TRADE PROJECTS (ITP)<br />

<strong>International</strong> <strong>Trade</strong> <strong>Projects</strong> (Pty) Ltd (ITP), established in 1996, is an experienced trade and investment<br />

promoter through the medium of consulting and strategy development, exhibitions, event-management,<br />

business networking, public relations and marketing. Our dedicated, skilled and proactive team enables<br />

our South African clients to develop their business internationally, and assists foreign companies,<br />

organisations and governments with their marketing initiatives in southern Africa.<br />

We provide our clients with practical strategies and services designed to enhance their profile in southern<br />

Africa, to meet with potential business partners and to develop sales for their goods, services and<br />

technologies in the local and international market.<br />

We assist our clients to clarify their objectives in the South African market and then to develop a strategy<br />

to achieve those objectives.<br />

2. SERVICES AND CLIENTS<br />

2.1. <strong>International</strong> <strong>Trade</strong> and Investment consulting and strategy: ITP has outstanding experience in<br />

the field of international trade and investment development. Much of our work (including many of<br />

the events which we handle) begins with consulting on trade and investment opportunities and<br />

the development of marketing strategies for our clients wishing to "go international" or to "grow<br />

their profile" in southern Africa.<br />

� ITP clients include SOFTEX (the Software Industries Association of Brazil); Enterprise Ireland; the<br />

City of Johannesburg (Department of Economic Development), Development@Work and<br />

AGORA 2000.<br />

2.2. Support services for international agencies, development programmes and consultants in the<br />

SADC region: ITP aims to stimulate cross-border dialogue in order to foster inward investment and<br />

trade. This is offered through ITP’s experience in working with international development<br />

programmes, its SADC-wide contact network and its track record in organising and facilitating<br />

regional workshops and seminars.<br />

� Programmes with which ITP has had particular experience include the EU/Ntsika <strong>Trade</strong> and<br />

Investment Development Programme (TIDP); the EU-SADC Investment Promotion Programme<br />

(ESIPP); PRO€INVEST; BizClim; the <strong>Trade</strong>Com Facility; and the Brazilian Machinery Builders<br />

Association (ABIMAQ).<br />

2.3. <strong>International</strong> B2B Matchmaking Services: These are offered to international business delegations<br />

and companies travelling to South and southern Africa. Services include research, contact<br />

identification, appointment scheduling, business seminars and venue and event management.<br />

� The Brazilian <strong>Trade</strong> and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil); the Brazilian Service of<br />

Support for Micro and Small Enterprises (SEBRAE); the Central Anatolian Exporters’ Union and<br />

the Turkish Furniture Export Group; Enterprise Ireland; the Canadian High Commission; the<br />

Botswana Export Development and Investment Authority (BEDIA); Enterprise Mauritius; the<br />

Namibia Investment Centre; the City of Bucheon (Korea); The Central Anatolian Exporters’<br />

Union; the Turkish Furniture Export Group (Turkey); and The Government of Catalonia (Spain).<br />

2.4. Business Forums and Investment Seminars: ITP services include the development of marketing<br />

databases; event promotion through dispatch of targeted invitations, advertising and public<br />

relations; response handling; event logistics (venue liaison, catering, delegate registration, audiovisual<br />

and translating services) and on-site event management.<br />

� The EU-SADC Investment Promotion Programme (ESIPP); the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan<br />

Municipality; Mozambique Investment Promotion Centre (CPI); the Embassy of Cote d'Ivoire, the<br />

Barcelona City Council; the Principality of the Asturias Region of Spain; General Electric (GE);<br />

Enterprise Ireland; and the Brazilian State of Pernambuco.<br />

2.5. Market research and contact identification: ITP provides research services for local and foreign<br />

clients on the South African marketplace in various industry sectors. Subjects covered include<br />

production and trade statistics, duty structure and barriers to entry, channels of distribution,<br />

industry issues and key contacts.<br />

� ITP clients include ABIT (the Textile and Apparel Industries Association of Brazil); the Ntsika<br />

Enterprise Development Agency; the Province of Gauteng; and a market research project in<br />

Israel and South Africa for Billiton SA Ltd.<br />

2.6. Exhibition management and marketing in South and southern Africa: Full exhibition<br />

management services including stand design and construction, visitor promotion campaigns,<br />

exhibition logistics (venue liaison, registration, security, cleaning, etc.) and on-site event<br />

management. ITP is able to organise solo-country exhibitions as well as participation in existing<br />

industry exhibitions in South Africa.<br />

� ITP has undertaken exhibition projects for embassies and high commissions including Thailand,<br />

Pakistan and Cote d'Ivoire, as well as for the Confederation of Indian Industry. ITP has also<br />

worked closely with Exhibitions for Africa and Specialised Exhibitions in both international<br />

visitor and exhibitor promotion in sectors as diverse as science and technology, hospitality and<br />

catering, IT, hardware and the building and construction sectors. ITP also launched the South<br />

African <strong>International</strong> Airport Showcase exhibition.<br />

2.7. Exhibition training: We specialise in developing and facilitating practical exhibition training<br />

programmes in a range of sectors. Our training covers both local and international exhibitions and<br />

includes such practical issues as choosing the right exhibition, preparing a budget, planning the<br />

stand display, staff selection, negotiation skills, and exhibition follow-up.<br />

� <strong>Projects</strong> handled include exhibition training for SMEs in the craft and tourism sectors for the<br />

Tourism Enterprise Programme (TEP; training for crafters on exhibitions in the USA for the SAIBL<br />

fund; an introduction to exhibitions for fashion designers for the City of Tshwane; and exhibition<br />

training for SMEs in Port Elizabeth.<br />

2.8. Editorial services and production of marketing materials: Writing, editing and proof reading of<br />

documents, as well as design and production of brochures, press releases, etc.<br />

� Cape Town <strong>Trade</strong> Promotion Fund; <strong>International</strong> <strong>Trade</strong> Centre in Geneva; Quarterly Journal for<br />

<strong>Trade</strong> Partners and Investors (<strong>International</strong> Marketing Council of South Africa); Small Enterprise<br />

Development Agency; and all editorial management for both country and company profiles for<br />

the ESIPP Agro Industry Policy Dialogue Workshop held in Tanzania in 2008.<br />

2.9. Handicraft and giftware promotion: As marketing agent for GLM, the American Division of DMG<br />

World Media ITP introduces craft and giftware producers to the US market through participation<br />

in trade fairs in the United States.<br />

2.10. Media relations: ITP assists foreign representatives to grow their relations with the South<br />

African media. Services include the development of media lists, preparation and distribution of<br />

press releases and arranging of press conferences and one-on-one media interviews.<br />

2.11. Tourism and cultural events: ITP organises gala dinners, craft festivals, culinary promotions,<br />

tourism displays and national day celebrations.<br />

� During the 2010 FIFA Football World Cup TM ITP assisted the Brazilian Government with a<br />

country branding and trade promotion event called the “Brazil Sensational Experience” to<br />

launch Brazil’s hosting of the 2014 FIFA Football World Cup TM . This event took place over the<br />

course of a month and entailed various individual events as well as day-to-day event<br />

management. The Brazilian partners included EMBRATUR (The Brazilian Tourist Board), Apex-<br />

Brasil (The Brazilian <strong>Trade</strong> and Investment Promotion Agency), The Ministry of Sport and the<br />

Ministry of Science and Technology. ITP’s key roles during this event included the management<br />

of certain aspects of the marketing/advertising, individual event promotion and management,<br />

cleaning and catering, registration and hostess services, youth tour assistance, photography,<br />

venue set-up and office equipment management, overall assistance with the event.<br />
