Prerequisite: None Advanced Manufacturing Systems (AMS) A Department: Technology Length: Half year subject Coordinator: Michael Cuevas Leads to: Stage 1 or 2 Advanced Manufacturing Systems Assessment: The IB MYP assessment criteria are: �� Criterion A: Inves�gate �� Criterion B: Design �� Criterion C: Plan �� Criterion D: Create �� Criterion E: Evaluate �� Criterion F: A�tudes in Technology Descrip�on: This is a practically orientated course aimed at completing at least one full design project, including writing a design brief and creating projects that address a manufacturing problem. Students follow the full design cycle to make models and small products. The products will differ from semester to semester, and could include items such as a torch, a USB or a desktop clock. There will be a focus on the design cycle, computeraided drawing (CAD), and the finishing process for each product. Students will develop their skills in utilizing the Solidworks CAD package, and in using cutting edge manufacturing processes and machinery. As part of this course, students can elect to complete an embedded VET competency which can contribute to Cer�ficate I and II in Metals and Engineering.
