April 1, 2010 – Vol. 2
Starting April 5th, 8:00-9:00pm: Weekly series of Dzogchen Dharma Lectures by Kunchok Lama. Open to the
public. Cost $10 per class or $100 for 12 weeks. For more information contact Betsi Drayman at
www.tibetsupply.com . Classes will be held on the training floor of the Lohan School of Shaolin.
Ven. Jian Hu, Abbott of Chung Tai Zen Center of Sunnyvale, will lecture on Pure Mind, Pure Land: A New
Lifestyle for World Harmony, Saturday, May 1, 2010, 2:00 – 4:30pm at CSN Charleston Campus, 6375 W.
Charleston Blvd., Bldg. B, Room 205. He will also conduct a half-day meditation retreat on Sunday, May 2nd.

Announcements:
Beginning Buddhism
classes will resume on April 5th from 7:00pm – 8:00pm. taught by Vice-Abbott Tyson Kern. Series of introductory
topics on Buddhism. No experience necessary. Classes will run weekly on Mondays. Free. Open to the Public.
Donations accepted.
The Chung Tai Zen Meditation Group
will be cancelled on April 4th due to participation in a week long meditation retreat. Classes will resume on Sunday,
April 11th from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
The Foundations of Buddhism class on Sundays at 3:30 has been cancelled (lectures will be given by Kunchok
Lama on Monday nights, see above.) However, Buddapath Practice (Dzogchen) is still ongoing on Sundays from
1:30 – 3:30pm.

- Sundays 1:30 – 3:30pm, Buddhapath Practice (Dzogchen)
- Mondays 6:00 - 7:00pm, Desert Dharma Meditation Group – Lohan Priest Greg Pergament
- Mondays 7:00 – 8:00pm, Beginning Buddhism - Vice-Abbott Tyson Kern
- Mondays 8:00 – 9:00pm, Dzogchen Dharma Lectures (onTraining Floor of Lohan School) – Kunchok Lama
(Course fee $10 per class or $100 for 12 weeks.)
- Wednesdays 8:00 – 10:00pm, Spiritual Warrior (please speak with Dashi Steven Baugh before attending,
classes are by invitation only.)
- Thursdays 7:30 – 8:30pm, Tibetan Language Classes with Kunchok Lama ($40 course fee)
- Fridays 6:00 – 7:00pm, Taoism Course (Quigong, Meditation and Herbs .) – Sifu JC

Priest Hours:
The Lohan priests have begun keeping hours in the Temple and are available for spiritual counseling, dharma
questions or just to have a cup of tea. The current schedule is as follows:
Greg Pergament : Tues. 4:00 – 5:00pm and Thurs. 4:00 – 5:00pm. Also, by appointment. Cell: 525-6490. Kathy
Hassett: Thurs. 5:30 – 7:30pm. Also, by appointment. Cell: 813-4123. Tyson Kern: Mon. 3:00 – 6:00pm. (Also,
Wed. 3:00 – 8:00pm by appointment only.) Cell: 808-4531.
A Note from the Vice-Abbott,
On March 3rd, 2010, the membership conducted their Annual Meeting and held Elections. I would like to
congratulate the members of the first elected Board of the Lohan Spiritual and Cultural Center: President: JC,
Vice-:President: Ocean Libby, Treasurer: Kim Shaw, Secretary: Jennifer – Grossi, and Member at Large: Tony
Humphreys. I would also like to thank the membership for your continued participation and support, without which,
none of this would have been possible. Special thanks go to our outgoing Secretary, Kathy Hassett, for her hard
work on the elections. And a sincere thank you to Sifu JC Cox for continuing on for another year as President. I
would also like to send out a special thanks to Don Wireman. He has been the temple coordinator for over a year
now, and I feel like he has been an integral part of the success of the positive changes we have tried to make. Well
done Lohans!
