3) Weekly Overview
3
• Each Monday morning at 9:00 am Immanuel begins the week as a whole school with flag raising
and the National Anthem under the shelter, certificates to celebrate students that exhibit the
Learner Profiles, Student Leadership Reports and acknowledging birthdays of students in
Reception-Year 3.
• Banking is on Tuesday. Students are to place their bank books into the message box first thing in
the morning.
• Students are to wear sports uniform on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
• Lunch orders are on Friday; however, they need to be ordered on Thursday morning. There are
spare lunch order forms in the front office.
• Library borrowing is on Thursday. Students need to bring their library bag on this day to enable
them to borrow.
• Worship and Praise is on Friday morning at 9:00am. It would be great if you could join us. These
are led by classes, parish pastors, special guests and teachers. You will be informed when our
class is presenting Worship and Praise through a class newsletter.
4) Daily Routines
Students are expected to be at school by 8:55am. This is when they prepare themselves for the day
ahead. In year 2/3 we encourage students to prepare themselves for the day ahead and to slowly
become more independent. When students arrive in the morning they are to move their name on the
registration board to indicate that they are present, place drink bottles, brain food and pencil cases on
their desks, settle with a self-starter at their table with their Family Learning Journal Folders open. When
the 9:00am bell goes they are to wait behind their desk until their family learning is marked. Once
completed, they pack up their activity and wait quietly on the mat.
5) Brain food
Children are allowed to keep a small container of brain food on their desks. Brain Food is to consist of
fresh or dried fruit pieces or vegetable pieces. Please ensure that it is cut up into manageable pieces.
Class teachers will designate suitable times throughout the day for students to enjoy a healthy snack
(Please no nuts as this is a nut free school)
6) Drinks in the classroom
Children are allowed to have their drinks in the classroom if their bottles are filled with water only.
7) Family Learning
Students will be expected to learn their spelling words each night along with reading. Year 2/3 students
have 8 spelling words each week. In the lead up and duration of our multiplication unit students will
also be required to learn various multiplication facts for homework. These will be assessed at various
times throughout the unit of work and beyond. Family learning is marked each morning. If your child is
unable to complete their spelling and reading I ask that a note is written. Students who do not complete
