Healthy Schools Scheme
in June 2010 the school completed the 10
phases in the Healthy Schools Scheme in
Conwy County.
The scheme is a 3 year programme which aims to
develop certain areas of the schools environment
as well as the physical, social and emotional well
being of staff and pupils.
The first year of the process saw Eirias achieve
the one year award for looking at the emotional
development of students; food and nutrition
and the partnerships the school has with the
community.
In the second year, the focus has been to raise
awareness of the importance of physical activity
and looking after the environment. It was also
the turn of the staff to have a look at their own
well being.
The final challenges focused on personal and
social education and health and safety. The
pastoral scheme of work continues to develop
with strong year teams and the introduction of a
student led group, helping teachers prepare and
deliver lessons.
School Houses
The Heads of House for Gwynedd Falcons,
Glyndwr Eagles, Llywelyn Hawks and
Madog Kites are once again ready to get the
school moving with the launch of the first
house event this year.

The school is now looking forward to embark
on the next challenge in completing the
seven phases that lead to the Healthy Schools
Schemes National Quality Award.
Restaurant Facilities
The school runs a cashless system, where
students are given swipe cards that can be
topped up by cheque or cash daily, weekly or
monthly.
Free meal allowances are topped up
automatically on the cards.
HEALTHY EATiNG iS ENCoURAGED.
The choices are:
• a traditional counter with a
meat or vegetarian choice
• a pasta bar
• a salad bar
• a selection of sandwiches
The average cost of a two course lunch is £1.85.
Students who bring packed lunches eat in the
school hall and may also purchase drinks, fruit,
cookies etc on their cards.
T10 and T20 give the students the opportunity
to enter a prize draw to win an ipod touch
when they reach 10 house points.
Students in KS4 and KS5 have the chance to
put their ideas forward as Key stage of House
helping to organise different activities such as
vertical assemblies, friendship activities and of
course ‘Eirias’s Got Talent’ in conjunction with
the school’s Senior Team.
