Welcome to the<br />

<strong>2010</strong> <strong>Addy</strong>s<br />

The ADDYs are the advertising industry’s largest<br />

and most representative competition, attracting<br />

more than 60,000 entries every year in local ADDY<br />

competitions. The mission of the ADDY competition is<br />

to recognize and reward creative excellence in the art<br />

of advertising. Conducted annually by the American<br />

Advertising Federation (AAF), the AAF Nashville ADDY<br />

Awards is the first of a three-tier, national competition.<br />

Concurrently, all across the country, local entrants<br />

vie for recognition as the very best in their markets.<br />

At the second tier, local winners compete against other<br />

winners from cities in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana,<br />

Mississippi and other cities in Tennessee, which is one<br />

of 14 District competitions. District winners are then<br />

forwarded to the third tier, the National ADDY Awards<br />

competition, which will take place June 12, <strong>2010</strong>, at the<br />

Hilton Bonnet Creek & Waldorf Astoria, Orlando, Florida.

marketing solutions, particularly in integrating traditional and<br />

new media.<br />

Committed to sharing his creative wisdom and vision with the<br />

heart of a teacher, Arlo is also an award-winning former assistant<br />

professor of journalism at the William Allen White school<br />

of Journalism and Mass Communications at the university of<br />

kansas, and the Founder and executive Director of Camp<br />

Portfolio (campportfolio.com), the kansas City-based workshop<br />

in creative portfolio development for aspiring advertising art<br />

directors and copywriters.<br />

Bill starkey’s title at sTiCk and MOve in Philadelphia is<br />

simply “senior Creative Guy.” Which means he does a little of<br />

everything. Creative director, art director, designer, art buyer,<br />

group therapist, social media student - you name it. Big head<br />

o’ many hats is the nature of his current gig. His clients include<br />

schwinn, Yakima Products, Leatherman Tools and Comcast. in<br />

his previous life, he was a vP, Group Creative Director at Mullen<br />

in Winston-salem, North Carolina, where he ran accounts like<br />

Wachovia securities and sealy. Other clients he’s hung out with<br />

include Hanes, Thomasville Furniture, evergreen investments<br />

and the Baltimore Orioles.<br />

Bill’s work has been recognized by Communication Arts, The<br />

Art Directors Club, D&AD, The Type Directors Club and Cannes.<br />

He has just finished a semester as a visiting lecturer for the<br />

university of Delaware’s visual Communications group, which<br />

is also his alma mater.<br />

and design at Long Haymes Carr (now Mulllen/LHC) in<br />

Winston-salem, NC - a time in his life that he sums up<br />

with four words: “free beer. late nights.” After leaving<br />

LHC, he continued to hone his creative skills with local<br />

shops PAve Advertising + Design, followed by Woodbine.<br />

since 2004, kris has been a jack of all trades with Henderson<br />

Bromstead Art, which he affectionately refers to as “the best<br />

job ever.” He’s led creative projects and campaigns for a long<br />

list of clients, including Hanes Beefy-T, Champion Athleticwear,<br />

Piedmont Distillers, Habitat for Humanity, Levi strauss and<br />

Co., Lowe’s, and Wake Forest university. His work has been<br />

recognized by AiGA, Communication Arts, Graphis, HOW<br />

Jason Wright is Group Creative Partner and Copywriter at The<br />

Buntin Group. Hailing from Georgia, his career has taken him<br />

coast-to-coast and included creative roles at some of the nation’s<br />

preeminent agencies on global consumer brands. During ten years<br />

at Leo Burnett in Chicago, Jason served as Creative Director on<br />

rice krispies and McDonald’s while also filling copywriter duties on<br />

numerous projects for Nintendo, Disney, Amoco and special k. Prior<br />

to Leo Burnett, Jason worked in both the st. Louis and West Coast<br />

what is starting to suffer a<br />

bit in the new high-speed<br />

world of advertising. But<br />

clearly not here. All pieces<br />

in this set are beautifully<br />

done and every detail well<br />

thought out. The hand drawn<br />

nature of all of these pieces<br />

did a great job of setting me<br />

up for an experience. If the<br />

chocolate is half as good as<br />

the packaging, send me a<br />

warrant a Gold. But taken as<br />

a whole, they’re just beautiful.<br />

I’d buy the candybars just to<br />

have samples of the label. If<br />

the chocolate was as good<br />

as the label, it would just be<br />

an added bonus. And all the<br />

judges wished that the posters<br />

were scratch and sniff... they<br />

just look like they should smell<br />
