Integrated Virtual and Real Worlds: wir
verlagern unsere täglichen Verrichtungen
immer mehr aus der realen in die virtuelle
Welt. Damit sich Menschen in der
virtuellen Welt zurechtfinden, müssen sie
die Konzepte, Präsentationsformen und
Interaktionsmöglichkeiten mit der digitalen
Welt intuitiv erfassen können. Die
Übergänge zwischen realer und virtueller
Welt müssen einfach gestaltet werden,
leicht erkennbar sein, Sicherheit bieten
und auf Wunsch jederzeit und überall
den selbstverständlichen Wechsel
ermöglichen. IPSI stellt sich der
anspruchsvollen Aufgabe, mit neuartigen
Konzepten der Informationsanreicherung
und des Informationsmanagements
Systeme zu entwickeln, die diesen
Anforderungen beim Publizieren und
Informieren, beim Zusammenarbeiten
und Lernen, beim Kommunizieren und
Planen in der virtuellen und der realen
Welt gleichermaßen Rechnung tragen.

Integrated Virtual and Real Worlds: We
are shifting more and more of our daily
activities from the real world to the virtual
world. If people are to find their way
around in the virtual world they need to
be able to intuitively understand concepts,
forms of presentation, and possible
interactions with the digital world. Transition
points between real and virtual
worlds need to be simply structured, easy
to recognize, secure, and readily adaptable
to inevitable change. IPSI faces the
challenging task of using new methods of
information enrichment and management
to develop systems that will take these
requirements into account in connection
with the publication and dissemination of
information, in interactive working and
learning environments, as well as in communication
and planning processes in the
virtual and real worlds.
