This Week
• Stations of the Cross are held each Friday after the
12:10 Mass and again at 7:00 p.m. on Friday
evenings.
• Confessions will be available on Wednesdays during
Lent from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the Church and Saturdays
3:00-4:30 p.m.
CATHEDRAL BLOOD DRIVE
NEXT SUNDAY
The next Cathedral Blood Drive will be next Sunday, March
3, in the Fleming Center from 8:30-12:30. You may sign-up to
donate after Sunday morning Masses this Sunday in the Vestibule.
You can also sign-up online. Go to
www.redcrossblood.org, click “Account Login” at the top right
hand side of the page. Log in as a donor, enter sponsor code
“cathedral019” and schedule your appointment. You may also
sign up by phone by calling Sally Stack (298-2932). If you are 17
years of age (16 with parental consent), weigh a minimum of 110
lbs. and in good general health, you may be eligible to donate.
This is the first of three blood drives the Cathedral will have in
2013. With one week to go before the drive we have only 26
appointments scheduled while 27 slots are still available!!

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
Our monthly Adoration & Exposition of the Blessed
Sacrament will be today, Sunday, from Noon until 5:00.
The 7th Annual Cathedral St. Patrick’s
Day Fundraiser, hosted by Cathedral’s
Knights of Columbus Council #544, is coming
up on Saturday, March 16 at 6 p.m. We
will have live entertainment, dinner, and a
silent auction with all proceeds benefiting the
Cathedral and Cathedral charities. Tickets are $65 each ($75 after
March 3rd) or $550 for a table of 10. Knights will be in the
back of the church after all weekend Masses to take reservations.

40 DAYS FOR LIFE
ST. PATRICK’S DAY FUNDRAISER
You are invited to join other Christians for 40 Days for Life
(40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion) through
March 24 . You are also invited to stand and peacefully pray during
a 40-day vigil from 6:00—6:00 in the public right-of-way
outside of The Women’s Center, 419 Welshwood Drive. Please
help spread the word about this important community outreach.

Preparations to complete the Sacraments of Initiation for
those who fall in this category will begin soon.
RCIA Sponsors Are Needed!
Have you ever thought that you might like to serve in
some way but aren’t quite sure how? RCIA has several
people in our Inquiry group who will soon be moving or
have moved into the Catechumenate, and we need sponsors!
You do not need to be a theologian or someone with a vast
knowledge of Catholicism, just someone with a heart to
walk this journey of faith with a person who is entering the
Church. In fact, most of our volunteers talk of how valuable
being a sponsor is because they deepen their own Catholic
faith at the same time as the person they sponsor. We meet
on Thursday evenings from 7-9:00 p.m. in St. Albert Hall.

� Getting Healthy in East Timor
CRS Rice Bowl invites us to learn
about East Timor this week where
tuberculosis is a major health crisis.
CRS works in the communities where access to
medical care is limited. This week, we pray for families
in East Timor and give to CRS Rice Bowl to help people
who are struggling with illness. Remember to use
your rice bowl! For Lent, for life.

Neri Nights continues to meet in Room 304 at 6pm on

CATHEDRAL ONGOING ADULT FORMATION &
EDUCATION
► This Sunday, as part of our year long celebration of the
175th Anniversary of the Diocese, we continue our series
looking at the Holy Men and Women of the
Church who have had some influence on the history of
the Diocese of Nashville. This Sunday we will have a
presentation on Venerable* Mother Catherine
McAuley by Sister Suzanne Stahlm RSM and Sister
Judith Coode RSM. Venerable Catherine McAuley
began the Sisters of Mercy in Ireland, and their teaching
charism has been a vital part of the life of the
Church in the United States, the Diocese of Nashville,
and especially here at the Cathedral parish in the Cathedral
School.
*”Venerable” is the first title given to a person in the
steps toward being named a saint.
Adult Formation takes place in room 305 of St. Albert
Hall after the 8:30 Mass (9:45am) and ends in time for the
11:00am Mass (10:45am) It is not necessary for you to
have attended previous sessions of our adult formation program
to attend any particular one. Come join Sister Suzanne
and Sister Judith have a cup of coffee and a donut
and enjoy this presentation. Child care is available.

Lenten Bible Study
A Young Adult Lenten Bible Study continues Monday at 7 PM
in Room 304 and runs through March 25th.
Sunday Night Dinner
Dinner this week will be at IHOP (on Elliston Place). Join us
for dinner after the 5:00 Sunday Evening Mass as we wind down
the weekend. We will meet in the Vestibule and head to the restaurant
from there. Or, feel free to meet us at the restaurant around
6:15 PM if you attend a different Mass.

ECO-GARDENS CSA DISCOUNT!
From May to November receive a weekly basket of locally,
organically grown vegetables, berries and melons. Eco-Gardens
CSA is offering a discount for all who sign up by February

Body: Celebrate Wear Blue Day (March 1 st ) to promote
colorectal cancer awareness.
Mind: Set priorities by making a “to-do” list. Put important tasks
at the top and work your way down.
Spirit: Give regularly to a national or international disasterrelief
agency.

Girls ready for a challenge this summer can sign up today for
St. Cecilia Academy’s Super Science Challenges camp. Super Science
Challenges is a new camp this year at Camp St. Cecilia. The
week-long camp is offered the week of June 10 or June 17 from
1—4:00 for girls rising into grades 5-6. The cost is $125. Girls
will conduct a week full of science challenges in this camp with
instructor Alison Maliszewski. She is a two-time Iron Science
Teacher winner with Vanderbilt’s Center for Science Outreach.
Challenges during camp will include foam towers, marble mazes,

to stay the night with our guests. Other volunteer opportunities include picking up and dropping off our guests
(drivers especially needed for early Wed. mornings), setting up and serving dinner, providing dinners, lunches and
breakfast, laundering sheets & pillow cases and more.

OVERBROOK STORY TIME
Parents and children are invited to Overbrook School’s
spring Story Time on Monday, March 11 featuring a short
one-act story performed by the Overbrook Forensics Team
as well as stories and songs with Overbrook’s librarian.
Story time is in the school library at 10 a.m. This event is
intended for children under the age of 5 and not currently in
kindergarten. Bring a friend and join for this great story
time adventure. There is no admissions fee or registration
required; light refreshments will be served. Overbrook
School is located on The Dominican Campus at 4210 Harding
Pike, Nashville, TN 37205 next door to Saint Thomas
Hospital. All are welcome.
ST. BERNARD ACADEMY SUMMER CARE 2013
Located near Vanderbilt and Hillsboro Village
St. Bernard Academy offers a Summer Care program
for children ages 5-11 years old. Summer Care runs 8 weeks
beginning June 3 and ending August 3. We are closed the
