LOOKING FOR A COMPACT, VERSATILE 96KHZ STEREO CONVERSION
SOLUTION? You’re looking for the PSX-100 – now with singlewire
88.2/96kHz AES/EBU. It’s a complete two-channel conversion
system in a compact single-unit box. Resembling a
miniature version of the AD-8000, including the new UV22HR
and SoftLimit, but with 88.2 and 96kHz sampling and with all
its interfaces built in, the PSX-100 contains separate A/D and
D/A sections, each with their own clocks, which can be crossconnected
in a number of different ways – or not at all – you
can even run them at different sample rates. Copy a digital
input to all the outputs including D/A; monitor the output of
the A/D using the D/A, while outputting
all digital formats; or use them
separately – it’s your choice.
The PSX-100 includes all the industry-
DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR THE PROJECT STUDIO, Apogee’s
Rosetta AD 2-channel A/D converter offers superlative
performance at an affordable price. Two models are available,
one offering 44.1/48 kHz sampling, and the other with the full
range from 44.1 to 96kHz. And you can upgrade from one to
the other as your needs grow. The Rosetta provides the new
UV22HR, and the 44.1–96 kHz model includes single-wire
AES and S/PDIF at 88.2/96 kHz, plus ABS-96 to record
24/88.2–96kHz signals on regular MDMs.
PSX-100
2-channel 24-bit, 44.1–96 kHz A/D-D/A
standard interfaces: multiple AES/EBU, S/PDIF (coax/optical),
TDIF (Tascam) and ADAT. There is an auxiliary AES output
that always delivers high-resolution audio even if the other
outputs are being reduced to 16 or 20 bits with UV22HR,
making it possible, for example, to master 24-bits to a 24-bit
DAT machine while making simultaneous 16-bit copies.
Apogee Bit Splitting is taken a stage further in the PSX-
100. In addition to the 4/24 (PaqRat-compatible) mode (two
16-bit tracks record a single 24-bit channel), ABS-96 allows
you to record (and replay) two channels of 24/96 audio on
eight tracks of a standard MDM. So if you were wondering
how to store your high-density recordings, the answer is
already in your studio: it’s your existing MDM.
There’s nowhere you’ll find better quality, convenience
or capability than in the Apogee PSX-100.
Rosetta AD
2-channel 24-bit, 44.1/48 kHz (44.1–96 kHz optional) A/D
The most widely-used interfaces are built into the Rosetta:
AES, S/PDIF, TDIF (Tascam) and optical (S/PDIF or ADAT format).
Large bar-graph meters give you accurate level indication,
while oversize “over” LEDs (user defined threshold) let
you keep an eye on your levels, which can be kept under control
with Apogee’s proprietary SoftLimit feature. UV22HR,
meanwhile, allows you to output 16 or 20 bits without losing
detail. The Rosetta AD is an ideal front-end to your DAT
machine, MDM, DAW, computer system or video editor.
SINCE Apogee launched Master DAT in 1993, Apogee media
products have become some of the most highly-regarded in
the industry.
Apogee Master DAT has established itself as the professionals’
choice for reliable, low-error-rate digital audio mastering
Apogee’s UV22HR
The new digital mastering standard
EXPERTS AGREE – there’s nothing like
Apogee’s UV22 ® process for
translating a high-resolution digital
signal flawlessly into 16-bit
for CD or 20-bit for DVD. It
consistently beats bit-mapping,
DSP and noiseshaping
techniques in
listening tests.
Nine out of ten
mastering houses responsible for
US hit records have UV22 available, and they use it on at
least nine out of ten projects – an impressive record. Now
available is UV22HR, “high resolution”, the latest generation
of our acclaimed process, with the ability to capture
even more detail. UV22HR is standard in many Apogee
A/D converters. UV22 is also available for license, and is
employed by Yamaha, SADiE, Mackie and others.
For more information about the UV22 process and
licensing options, please contact us.
Apogee Master ADAT tape sets the standard for durability
and reliability. Optimized for audio applications, Apogee
Master ADAT is approved by Alesis for use on all ADAT
recorders including the latest high resolution models. Low
error rates and a durable binder and formulation make the
tape ideal for shuttling and editing, while the anti-static shell
minimizes dust and debris attraction, reducing errors and
dropouts.
Both ADAT and DAT tapes are supplied in attractive packaging
with a large writing area and APRS/SPARS label sets.
The ADAT tape includes a self-adhesive track sheet, while the
for extensive archive life, resistance to environmental hazards
and compatibility with writers at all speeds. Gold or silver
reflective layers are available, and the discs can be supplied in
bulk or in jewel case, Apogee branded or generic (unbranded).
Also available in inkjet-printable and consumer audio formats.
and stability for phantom power. XLR, 1 ⁄4in and various
special purpose analog interconnects are available.
The ultimate digital and analog cable solution!
WHY ON EARTH use an outboard converter? That was the
question many people asked when we launched our first
conversion system almost a decade ago. Surely the people
who make digital systems know what they’re doing? Of
course they do. But when they’re making all the different parts of
a recorder or workstation, how much do they spend on the converters?
Not much – they can’t afford to.
We can – because better digital audio is all we do. We know
that the converter is the heart of your digital audio system.
Without quality A/D conversion, your masters will never do you
justice, because after that stage, the digital signal simply can’t
get any better. And without a quality D/A, you’ll never hear it. It’s
as simple as that.
For fifteen years, the name Apogee has meant the highest
quality digital audio equipment available. From our original digital
filters to today’s award-winning digital converters, Apogee
Electronics has led the field. Along the way, we’ve introduced
many significant new developments. Our patented Low Jitter
Clock audibly cleans up digital signals. Our unique UV22 ® Super
CD Encoding process – imitated, but never equalled, and now
licensed to world-famous companies like Yamaha, SADiE and
Mackie – translates high-resolution digital signals flawlessly into
the 16-bit and 20-bit domains, without compromise; and now,
with UV22HR “High Resolution”, it performs even better. Our
exclusive Soft Limit ® circuit allows more level on tape without
digital “overs”, while Soft Saturate simulates tape compression.
Apogee has also built an enviable reputation for digital media
products and cable.
Today, Apogee continues to lead the way, thanks to the
expertise of our award-winning Engineering Team, with ideas
and insights from our Advisory Board, which includes many of
the top names in professional audio.
