WE HAVE GROWN
NEW STARKE AYRES GARDEN CENTRE – WEST COAST VILLAGE
Lovers of flowers, trees, fresh veggies and herbs will be delighted with the recent opening of our
new Garden Centre & Restaurant in West Coast Village, Sunningdale.
There is something for everyone at the new garden centre from the well-stocked and interesting
nursery, to the shop specialising in horticultural products and gifts. In between shopping for your
garden, treat yourself to a wholesome breakfast, scrumptious lunch or afternoon tea at the
restaurant and coffee shop in this garden environment.
Although Sunningdale is a new area, Starke Ayres has already established a name for itself. The
previously barren site of the garden centre has been enhanced by the planting of some
impressive six to eight metre Fever Trees (Acacia xanthophlea). This creates the perfect ambience
for a stress-free and pleasurable experience. Added to this tranquil atmosphere, the outside
restaurant seating is embraced by a planting of fresh greens used daily in the meals.
We emphasise indigenous gardening, especially in the current times of environmental awareness.
The climate of the West Coast is a challenge for gardeners, hence the need for the team of
knowledgeable horticulturalists always at hand at the garden centre. Whether you are a first time
or experienced gardener, the staff will advise on all aspects of gardening such as plant
identification, appropriate fertilizers, pest control, water-wise gardening and maintenance.
The shop is stocked with a wide range of horticultural products and inspiring gifts for all
occasions. There is also a large selection of local and imported pots, unique to Starke Ayres
Garden Centre.
Overall, the focus is on quality and service. Our sound advice on growing plants and vegetables is
backed by Starke Ayres’ long history at the forefront of horticulture. This new store has been
modelled on our highly successful Garden Centre in Rosebank, Cape Town, which started in 1877
and today remains one of the city’s leading garden centres.
