THE <strong>NEW</strong> <strong>YORK</strong> <strong>TIMES</strong> NATIONAL SURVEYS, <strong>1983</strong> (ICPSR 8366)<br />
SUMMARY = This study consists <strong>of</strong> three surveys. Parts 1 and 2 are<br />
concerned primarily with attitudes towards the United States government,<br />
indicators oi‘ patriotism, and respondents' tolerance <strong>of</strong> civil liberties<br />
in hypothetical situations. In addition, respondents were asked about<br />
their opinion on a variety <strong>of</strong> domestic economic and foreign policy issues.<br />
<strong>The</strong> third survey explored attitudes <strong>of</strong> American woman towards<br />
traditional sex role models, attitudes toward women in the work force,<br />
and experiences <strong>of</strong> respondents in the work force in terms <strong>of</strong> salary,<br />
responsibility, and promotion. Other items includedc evaluation <strong>of</strong><br />
Reagan's performance in <strong>of</strong>fice as well as questions about domestic and<br />
foreign policy issues. Demographic data were collected for all three<br />
surveys. CLASS IV<br />
COLLECTION CHANGES: Additional documentation has been added to the<br />
codebook. <strong>The</strong> data files have been revised to include additional<br />
variables.<br />
