THE NEW YORK TIMES NATIONAL SURVEYS, 1983 (ICPSR 8366)
SUMMARY = This study consists of three surveys. Parts 1 and 2 are
concerned primarily with attitudes towards the United States government,
indicators oi‘ patriotism, and respondents' tolerance of civil liberties
in hypothetical situations. In addition, respondents were asked about
their opinion on a variety of domestic economic and foreign policy issues.
The third survey explored attitudes of American woman towards
traditional sex role models, attitudes toward women in the work force,
and experiences of respondents in the work force in terms of salary,
responsibility, and promotion. Other items includedc evaluation of
Reagan's performance in office as well as questions about domestic and
foreign policy issues. Demographic data were collected for all three
surveys. CLASS IV
COLLECTION CHANGES: Additional documentation has been added to the
codebook. The data files have been revised to include additional
variables.
UNIVERSE: Adults 18 years of age and older.
SAMPLING = Stratified random-digit dialing.
NOTE: The data contain amp (&) and dash (-) codes. Each
dataset has a weight variable that must be used in all analyses.
