ROOM 2 ASSEMBLY

BOOKWEEK INCURSION
Year 4-7 will be enjoying a Bookweek
performance next Monday afternoon. The
performance celebrates the National Year of
Reading theme of “Champions Read”. Payment
of $5.50 should have been made by now.
BEING ON TIME
Thank you to all those parents making a special
effort to have their children delivered to school
between 8.30 – 8.45. It really does make a
difference to your child’s start to the day and
importantly to the start of the day for all those
children already in class and on time.
NOTE: Children should only be dropped off at
the round-a-bout NOT while waiting in traffic.
YEAR 1-3 DISCO
The School Councillors will be conducting a
disco for the Years 1 - 3 after school 3.30 – 5.00
pm next Thursday 16 August.
The cost is $5.00 which includes entry, a fruit
juice and a packet of crisps.
All funds raised will go to supporting Princess
Margaret Hospital.
Permission notes will be sent home by the end
of the week.
TREE DAMAGE
Some time over the weekend, probably on
Saturday, someone with a sharp axe chopped
down a well established grevillia tree in the
lower car park near the corner of Cromarty and
Pearson Streets.
The incident has been reported to the police and
the local authorities.
We are wondering if any passing parent or
student happened to notice the incident – which
may have even appeared to being done by a
legitimate service group?
We would appreciate any information about the
matter.

concerns with after hours happenings on the
Churchlands Primary School site.
HISTORY IN YEAR ONE
Last Thursday the Year 1 students went on an
excursion to the Claremont Museum. The
students used slate boards at the olden days
school, washed a tea towel with a glass washing
board, ground wheat to make scones, played old
fashioned games like knuckle bones and hop
scotch and made rag rugs with hessian and
rags. The students have a good understanding
of how much harder life was in the olden days.
