If you would like to be an owner you may obtain a membership application from our business office.
“Employees Extraordinaire” Corrine McMahon and Janet Sherlin raise the bar for others when it comes to dedication and “stick to it-ness.” They have both worked at the Hendricks Community Hospital for over 35 years. Both admitted that they did not intend to make it a career when they first started, but after working there now, neither has any retirement date in the near future. Corrine McMahon Corrine started at the hospital as a candy striper and then was given the opportunity to work as a nurse aide. She worked in the facility as a nurse aide for about 10 years and then moved into housekeeping. Corrine has been the housekeeping supervisor for over 20 years. She supervises a staff of nine people who handle the housekeeping duties for the entire complex, 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Corrine spends most of her days too doing the hands-on part of housekeeping. She is thankful for her staff of dedicated workers. “We have a very low turn-over rate in my department,” she said, “and we are very proud of that.” “Keeping the carpets clean is our most difficult task,” she admitted. “Our equipment today is so much easier to operate than it used to be,” she added. Corrine graduated from Hendricks High School and she and her husband, Kenneth, have lived in the community all of their lives. She and Kenneth have been married for 31 years. “We just got to be grandparents two months ago,” she quickly said. There have been many changes in the medical field, according to Corrine. We all get to meet lots of very nice people. The patients come and go much quicker these days. Our Mission Hendricks Community Hospital Associates strives to provide the highest quality health and residential care in a Christian caring environment. Janet Sherlin Can you imagine facing 1,200 to 1,400 pounds of laundry? Janet does that every day with her job as laundry supervisor. She and her staff of six people work eight hours per day and six days per week. She started working in the kitchen and laundry for four years and then moved strictly to the laundry. She handles all the hiring for her department, but indicated the department has very low turnover. She said she is very fortunate to have a great group of people in her department. Janet has worked as supervisor in the laundry for 18 years. The lady who she replaced as supervisor is now living in the nursing home. Janet is married to Louis and they make their home in Canby where he is a county commissioner and an insurance and real estate agent. She has three stepdaughters. Janet and Louis also have four granddaughters and two grandsons who all live in the Twin City area. Janet added that she graduated from Hendricks High School, but moved to Canby when she and Louis married. “The paperwork is the most difficult part of my job,” she said in conclusion, “and the best part of my job is the great group of people I work with everyday.” Our Vision The Hendricks Community Hospital Association dedicates itself to becoming the healthcare provider of choice.
