hasn’t given me anything so that it doesn’t disturb me when I
give so little. Once I acknowledge God’s generosity,
everything seems too little to give.”

Parochial Vicar News
Fr. Luis Carlos will be leaving us; he has been reassigned
to another parish. He is presently on vacation but will
return to be with us for all the masses on the weekend of
July 24/25. We will have a special farewell Coffee’and
after the 12 noon mass on July 25 th . Everyone is invited!
Fr. Janusz Rzadca has been assigned to our parish as our
new Parochial Vicar. We will have more information in
future bulletins to introduce you to Fr. Janusz. He will be
with us for the weekend of July 31/August 1.

Bishop’s Annual Appeal
Final Results
Our parish received of final rebate check due to us from the
2009 Bishop’s Annual Appeal. This rebate is 50% of the
amount collected through June 24 th over our parish goal.

Travel Club Meeting - Wed. July 14 th
7:00pm in the All Purpose Room of the Church. We will be
having a Princess Alaskan Cruise Night. It’s a great time to
be looking at what is available for next year and what specials
we have. Also please mark your calendar for Wednesday,
August 18 at 7PM - we will be looking at all the details of our
upcoming HOLY LAND trip scheduled for March of next
year. Fr. Bob Hopper will be joining us on the trip! It will be
a glorious trip for all. Deposits for this trip must be in by
October. So come and join us for these two wonderful
vacation opportunities. Give me a call for further details or

PS: Another opportunity for a ship tour on the Explorer of the
Seas - Saturday, July 31 st . You will see cabins, public areas
and enjoy a wonderful three course luncheon with wine. Cost

WHEN YOU (or your family) ARE
HOSPITALIZED
Due to federal privacy guidelines, all hospitals are
restricted from notifying us automatically when you have
been admitted. If you want to be visited while you are in
the hospital we recommend the following:
� You or your family notifies us in advance of your
hospital stay or when you have been admitted.
� You ask the hospital chaplain to notify us
� You be sure to tell the admitting registrar your
religious affiliation including both religion and parish
name
� Please tell the admitting registrar that you wish to have
your name listed in the directory available to the clergy
Also, if any member of the parish is aware that another
member is in the hospital that you ask the patient or their
family to call us.

PRAYER GROUP
BAKED GOODS SALE
St. Therese Prayer Group is planning a Baked Goods Sale
for the weekend of July 17/18 th . Save the date to enjoy
some real goodies!
WANTED!!!!
Used cell phones, ink jet/laser cartridges, laptops, video games
and any other small electronics. This collection will benefit
St. Therese School. A collection box is located in the
back of the church, and will be collected weekly.

FOOD and TOYS in CHURCH
I strongly suggest that parents and grandparents please
refrain from bringing food and toys for their children during
Sunday Liturgy. You should be especially mindful of the
fact if you choose to sit in the main body of the church and
not in the Children’s Prayer Room. If in fact you are in the
Children’s Prayer Room I find no problem with one or two
little toys or a simple snack.
I am writing to you concerning this because I think it’s
important that we be sensitive to all our parishioners who are
attending liturgy and help our children understand, to the
best extent they can at their age, that they should be paying
attention and participating in the liturgy.
I am a realist however, and somehow Cheerios have become,
to some extent, acceptable. So I think you have to make a
determination between Cheerios, toys, and a small snack,
and the Main Body of the church during mass.

CARNIVAL
PICTURES are on the Parish Website – take a look!
Thanks to all of the parishioners who helped us as
volunteers with this year’s carnival. As you know, it was
again a very good success. We had three great weather
days, no one was seriously hurt, we had a great time, and
the profit this year from the carnival was $50,000 (last year
it was $45,000).
I would like to thank all of the members of the Core
Committee, who did an excellent job, especially our
assistant chairperson, Mike Calabrese, who stepped up in
the temporary absence of our chairman, Joe Sclafani

GRADE OPENINGS St. Therese School
There are a limited number of openings in Grades 2, 3, 4, 5, 6,
7, 8 for the upcoming school year. If anyone is interested in
Catholic education for their child, please contact the school
office.
PRE-K-3 & 4 Openings We still have some
openings in our afternoon PreK 3 and PreK 4
year-old programs (sorry our morning and full
day programs are full). We offer 2 ½ hour
sessions - two times a week - on Tuesdays
and Thursdays afternoons. Your child
must be 3 years old by October 1st and
potty-trained. Please contact the school office at (973) 584-

St. Therese Alumnae Honored at
Fordham University
David delaFuente, St. Therese alumnae,
Class of 2002, graduated from Fordham
University, Lincoln Center Campus, last
month with high honors. David
graduated cum laude with a double major in Theology and
Political Science. He received the outstanding Student
Scholarship and Leadership Chair presented to one student
each year who has positively impacted the school in some
way. David was nominated and elected by school
professors and deans. The salutatory address was also
given by David.
In addition, David has received a full scholarship to begin
his master’s degree at Boston College this fall in Theology.
This summer he will be interning at Xerox in Connecticut
and hopes to someday become a college professor and
theologian.
St, Therese School and parish community congratulate

This month, our Diocese is taking up a combined collection and invites parishioners to support
these three distinct and important causes: Catholic University of America, Catholic Communications
Campaign and the Black and Indian Missions.
Catholic University of America
Founded in 1887, the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. is the national
university of the Catholic Church and provides a nurturing environment where its students flourish both
spiritually and academically. Your support helps to provide scholarships to financially deserving students
who might not have been able to attend otherwise.
Catholic Communications Campaign
Established in 1979, the Catholic Communications Campaign was designed to respond to the
communication needs of the Church. As new technologies come to the forefront, our Church must use
these opportunities to evangelize. In today’s secular society, spreading the Good News becomes
especially important and your support helps the Church bring the Gospel to people through diverse media
initiatives such as video, radio and the internet.
Black and Indian Missions
The Church’s evangelization efforts are especially important in the inner-city and rural areas in
the United States. Since 1884, funds from the Black and Indian Missions have provided grants to support
diocesan evangelization efforts in these communities. Your generosity brings the truth of our faith to our
brothers and sisters throughout our country.
Please be generous when this special combined collection is taken up in your parish. May God

5 th Annual Share the Hope Walk
On Thursday, July 15 th , Hope House will hold its annual walk.
This fundraiser is to support Behavioral/Mental Health,
HIV/AIDS, and Senior Services programs that Hope House
offers to the community. Registration begins 6:00pm. Stepoff
is 6:30pm. Choose your own pace (2K or 4K) at our
walkathon at Horseshoe Lake Park in Roxbury. Raffle prizes,
music, and snacks will be provided. Be a walker, sponsor or
