<strong>2012</strong> Wrap Up<br />
Sparring<br />
Another high standard competition with some 135<br />
competitors over the 2 days. The Poomse competition has<br />
become one of the best in the country. To win, players must<br />
prepare and refine their techniques according to current<br />
WTF<br />
regulations.<br />
Some 390 players in 135 divisions participated in sparring<br />
over the 2 days. The Black belt divisions were full of<br />
champions. Once again the dae-do electronic PSS<br />
(Protector Scoring System) was used for all Open and 14-17<br />
black belt divisions. Many of the players from the recent<br />
World Junior Championships were on display.<br />
Strong teams from all over Australia and NZ participated.<br />
PNG Olympic coach Andy Rutten used this competition as<br />
preparation for Olympian - Theresa Tona. Theresa<br />
competed in 2 black belt divisions.<br />
Jump kick<br />
60 Players over the 2 days provided some great<br />
entertainment during the lunch period in the Jump kick<br />
competition. On Saturday we saw some great jumps of<br />
over 2 ½ meters in the Open division. Most of the<br />
competitors were on Sunday in the junior divisions.<br />
