project learn
This comprehensive program strategy
reinforces and enhances the skills
and knowledge young people learn
at school during the hours they spend
at the Club. Project Learn is based
on Dr. Reginald Clark’s research
showing that students do much better
in school when they spend their nonschool
hours engaged in fun, but
academically beneficial, activities.
Through Project Learn, Club staff
create high-yield learning activities,
which include leisure reading,
writing activities, discussions with
knowledgeable adults, homework help
and educational games that reinforce
learning.
accelerated reader
A year-round program that utilizes
Renaissance Learning software, this
program keeps kids’ reading levels
on track throughout the school year
and summer break. Kids advance
with clear benchmarks and take short
quizzes to confirm their comprehension
before progressing to the next level.
Members receive incentives for their
participation and success.
money matters
This program promotes financial
responsibility and independence.
Participants learn how to manage a
checking account, generate a budget,
research savings and investment options
and create a plan to pay for college.
state education day
This annual springtime event provides
an opportunity for Club members
to participate in a fun competition
where they meet members from
around Colorado who share their
appreciation for academics. In 2010,
members prepared for three months to
compete in the following categories:
Geography, Science, Spelling, Math
and Trivia.
