Practical information for parents
SUPERVISION
• On arrival at the Resort, parents or guardians must see the
G.O ® team at Baby Club Med ® *, Petit Club Med ® * or Mini
Club Med ® to register their children on the appropriate site
list. At this point it is also vital that you inform them of any
allergies or habits that your child may have.
• The G.O ® s supervising your children at Baby Club Med ® *, Petit
Club Med ® * and Mini Club Med ® are all qualified (in France,
they either are qualified to look after very young children or
have BAFA (children’s group leader) certification, depending
on the age of the children they are supervising, and in other
countries, they have the equivalent local qualification or are
significantly experienced in looking after very young children).
• Quality standards apply when supervising children, particularly
with respect to the number of children per G.O ® s. Under no
circumstances will this quota be exceeded at Baby Club Med ® *
and Petit Club Med ® *. To ensure the highest level of safety
for your children, G.O ® s never work alone and are assisted
by other G.O ® s if necessary.
• G.O ® s are responsible for children during the opening hours
of Baby Club Med ® *, Petit Club Med ® * or Mini Club Med ® , on
condition that their parents or guardians have correctly filled
in the attendance register provided, stating in particular (next
to their signature) the time at which their child has been left
and will be collected, and where the parents can be reached.
• All children remain close to their parents or guardians, and
can see them at any time of the day.
SAFETY
• The equipment in the Children’s Clubs complies with French
and American safety standards (e.g use of safety glass etc.)
• All children under G.O ® s supervision wear a wristband so that
they can be easily identified and accounted for. A contact
log is used to keep parents informed of what their child gets
up to each day.
• Parents or guardians are fully responsible for their children’s
welfare outside of any activities organised by Baby Club Med ® *,
Petit Club Med ® *, Mini Club Med ® , Juniors’ Club Med ®
and Club Med Passworld ® . This applies in particular to the
swimming pools, where access is prohibited to both adults
and children outside the times when a lifeguard is present,
and the beach. For children from age 8 to 10 attending Mini
Club Med ® , if parents authorize their child to be autonomous,
the child can arrive and depart on their own but will still be
responsible of the parents.
• A swimming test is compulsory before doing any watersports.
HEALTH
• In accordance with the French legislation currently applicable
to companies and other concerns providing supervision to
children aged under 6 years, children in this age group will
only be admitted to Baby Club Med ® *, Petit Club Med ® *
or Mini Club Med ® Children’s Clubs upon presentation of
medical certificate, issued immediately prior to your arrival
at the Resort, stating that your child is in a fit state of health
for participation in children’s group activities:
1/ For Baby Club Med ® * at Opio en Provence and Vittel le Parc.
2/ For Petit Club Med ® * at La Caravelle, La Palmyre Atlantique,
Opio en Provence, Pompadour, Vittel le Parc, Peisey-Vallandry,
Serre-Chevalier, Valmorel.
3/ For Mini Club Med ® at La Palmyre Atlantique, Pompadour,
Serre-Chevalier for children aged 4 and 5.
• In addition, in order for children to gain admission to all Resorts
with Baby Club Med ® * and Petit Club Med ® *, their parents
or guardians must be able to prove that all their children’s
vaccinations are up to date (medical certificate or health
record). In the case of Baby Club Med ® *, the vaccinations
must include the child’s first jabs against diphtheria, tetanus
and polio.
• Please ensure that there is no medical reason why your child
should not take part in the sports activities offered in the
Club Med Resort.
• Access to the Children’s Clubs is reserved only to children
deemed able to cope with life in a group environment and
who are free of infectious or contagious illnesses or fever. This
restriction continues to apply until all visible signs of illness
disappear. If there are signs of infectious illness, Club Med
reserves the right to demand that the child be taken back
home, or at least kept in strict isolation away from contact
with other children (all communal areas). This precaution also
applies to all stages of chicken pox (varicella).
• Depending on the local medical services available, a nurse
will be on hand in the Resorts with Mini Club Med ® and
Petit Club Med ® *. A doctor will also be on hand in some of
our Resorts with Baby Club Med ® *. Their role is limited to
detecting, advising, recommending a course of action and
giving therapeutic or first aid treatment. However, for ethical
reasons, under no circumstances can they take the place of a
local doctor, who is the only person authorised to prescribe
medicine and/or administer treatment.
• No medication can be administered to children by G.O ® s,
except in the following cases:
- G.O ® s can, with written authorization by the parents and
under the prescription of a doctor, admisiter paracetamol
or other medicine that relieves fever.
- For children who carry an injection such as EpiPen ® , their
injection can be stored at the Children’s Club and used in
case of emergency by an authorised person.
• We do not have the facilities in place to take responsibility
of children requiring special medical supervision (especially
monitoring) or one-to-one special care from a third party. These
children shall remain under the sole responsibility of their parents
or guardians. IMPORTANT: meals for children with food
allergies can only be given by their parents or guardians
and is not the responsibility of the Children’s Clubs.
• Any consultations or visits to/from a local doctor must be
paid for by the parents or guardians.
SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
Some Club Med ® services (such as Club Med Passworld ® and
Juniors’ Club Med ® ) are only available on certain dates, whether
during or outside French school holidays. In exceptional cases,
some of our Resorts, during the local school holidays (i.e. the
school holidays of the country in which the Resort is based),
may offer services that, at any other time of the season, would
not be available. To find out the services that will be available in
your chosen Resort during your stay, you are advised to speak
to your sales advisor.
