Practical Information for Sports
The following recommendations are designed to ensure that you enjoy every moment of the sports
you engage in during your stay, in complete safety.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS, PRECAUTIONS AND FACILITIES
• The Club Med policy on sports activities is based on the
expert training of all our G.O ® s, and on regular information
from our heads of department and teams. This policy is the
result of the many years in which we have striven to provide
you with top-quality sports.
• You are strongly advised to follow the safety rules and
instructions given by the G.O ® s and posted on billboards
around the Resorts, close to the access points of the sports
facilities. You must always take your physical capabilities
into account before engaging in any sports, and never
overestimate what you are capable of (especially concerning
the condition of your muscles and heart). You should also
warm up beforehand and take regular breaks during exercise,
and drink sugar-based food (bread, pasta, rice, cereals, etc.)
before exercising. Whether you are an adult or a child, if
you become aware of any pain while exercising, you should
slow down, adjust your position or stop immediately, as such
pain represent a clear warning sign. For swimming and other
water sports, avoid eating too much in the two hours before
you enter the water.
• Taking part in any sport requires a good level of core fitness,
and also implies that you accept the risks involved with that
particular sport.
DIVE AND ENJOY OTHER WATERSPORTS
IN COMPLETE SAFETY
• In each Resort where watersports are offered, depending
on the sea and/or weather conditions (especially during the
monsoon period), boat trips/watersports activities may be
cancelled or rescheduled. For safety reasons, a lifejacket
must be worn at all times.
• A swimming test is compulsory to take part in any watersports
activity (subject to the fact that the child is the age required
to take part in this activity).
SCUBA DIVING* - Health and Security.
• To be able to scuba dive* you must be in good health, as it
is an activity that may aggravate certain existing conditions
and complaints.
• Even if you are an experienced diver accustomed to diving
on your own, you may still be required to perform a refresher
dive (in open water or a swimming pool) to comply with our
safety regulations. This refresher dive is at no extra cost and
compulsory.
• In accordance with Club Med safety standards for scuba
diving* at our PADI-certified schools, guests are not permitted
to go diving in the 12 to 18 hours before their return flight,
depending on the dives made.
SCUBA DIVING documentation to be presented.
• In accordance with PADI procedures (for adults and children)
adopted by Club Med, in order to dive at any of our Resorts
you must first fill out a medical self-assessment questionnaire,
before your departure. This questionnaire can be viewed and
downloaded from our website (www.clubmed.com). You are
advised to present this form to your doctor, who will help
you complete it. When you arrive at the Resort, you must
submit the completed form to the diving centre. You may
be barred from diving if you answer positively to any of the
questions – should this be the case, you will need to see
an on-site doctor, who will have the final say as to whether
you should dive.
• In addition, a medical certificate demonstrating the absence
of any contra-indications to scuba diving, issued within the
previous 12 months by a doctor competent in the field of
underwater pursuits (sports doctor, hyperbaric doctor or
a doctor certified by a deep-sea diving federation) will be
required if you wish to take the higher CMAS diploma (1 star
or equivalent).
• The documentation required and the conditions mentioned
above are also compulsory for any diving outside Club Med,
i.e. run by external companies. You must pay for your medical
consultations. Do not forget your certificates and your diving log.
SCUBA DIVING* - children
• Children under 8 are not allowed to dive.
• Written permission from parents is required for minors to
take part in diving activities.
SCUBA DIVING* - equipment
• Masks, flippers and snorkels can be borrowed for
unaccompanied diving activities such as snorkelling.
• For scuba diving*, wetsuits* and diving computers* can be
hired at all diving centres. Tanks and stab jackets (inflatable
safety system), flippers, masks, regulators and lead belts
are included in the Packages. Depending on the Package,
wetsuits are also included.
ACTIVITIES PROVIDED BY EXTERNAL SUPPLIERS*
• At some of our Resorts, you also have access to activities
run outside the scope of Club Med*, which are organised
by external companies and are not included in the price
of your Package. Although some of these activities can be
booked at the same time as you book your holiday and/or
on site at the Resort (in particular at the Discovery Area),
availability and conditions of sale (in particular the prices and
cancellation terms of these activities) are set by the relevant
external companies.
• Transfers to and from these activities are laid on by the
external companies.
*At extra cost.
