CONGRATULATIONS 2007 ASSOCIATES FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS!
Dear Associates,
I would like to give my appreciation for being selected as the recipient of the Ron Holeman Scholarship.
This will greatly help in paying the cost of tuition, therefore progressing both my education and my future
career by reducing my reliance on loans.
I was born and raised in Vancouver, Washington, with my parents and two brothers, where I attended Prairie
High School and began examining the field of engineering. As a senior in high school I worked as an intern
for Rockwell Collins Flight Dynamics. There I designed, built, and programmed an automated robotic tool
which optimized the production process of a prototype that Rockwell Collins was developing. Working full
time I developed and debugged an array of processes to robotically align and focus optical chips in the
device with computer artificial intelligence. This experience solidified my desire to become an electrical
engineer.
I am currently a junior at Washington State University working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering.
I take my studies seriously and have been named the Outstanding Sophomore of the Year in Electrical
Engineering by the College of Engineering faculty. When not studying I work as a math department tutor to
help students prepare for homework and exams. In my free time I enjoy practicing judo and swimming. I also strive to make my community
a better place. As a member of the Cougar Marching Band, a friend and I organized a group of students to collect over 600 canned goods for
families in need for the holiday season.
Upon completing my degree in Electrical Engineering, I plan to become an electrical engineer and serve the growing demand of electronic
goods. After acquiring a stable job I hope to start a family and build towards my children’s education.
Sincerely,
($1,250.00 Ron Holeman Scholarship Recipient)
Dear Associates, first of all, thank you for awarding me this scholarship, it helps immensely. I will be
a sophomore at Whitworth University (formerly known as Whitworth College) in Spokane,
Washington. There I am majoring in mathematics and am pursuing an education certification also.
After I have completed my 4 years I hope to teach math at a high school level and possibly coach cross
country and track. I am currently on the Whitworth cross country and track team and had a successful
first season. I was second on the cross country team this past year and ran the 10k and 5k for the track
team. I also am treasurer of Whitworth’s Fellowship of the Christian Athletes club (FCA). I loved my
freshman year and managed to maintain a 3.974 accumulative grade point average.
Thank you,
JoAnne Mayer ($1,000.00 Michael Caldwell Honorary Scholarship Recipient)
Dear Associates, my name is Lisa Weller and I would like to thank you so much for selecting
selected. I am currently attending Oregon State University and I am studying microbiology. I
