Dear Sportsmen,
For me it is a pleasure and a privilege to be part of this impressive
event presenting some of the best athletes in alpine skiing - The
„AUDI” ALPINE SKI WORLD CUP 2010/2011.
The consecutive hosting of prestigious world cup races that
Bulgaria and Bansko received from the International Ski
Federation proves the continuously growing authority of
Bulgarian ski sport and our winter resorts.
To host a World Cup Start in an environment of enormous
competition is the highest possible appreciation for our country
given by the world of ski sport. This is a proof that we are a
deserving partner who is successfully working for the promotion
and development of skiing not only in our country but all over
the world.
During the races we will not only have the pleasure to enjoy
the presentation of high ranked athletes but will also have
opportunities to establish contacts, to exchange experience and

Once again the world will turn to Bulgaria as Bansko is welcoming the
Men Alpine Skiing World Cup.
I’m convinced that the magic of the white sport will fascinate all of us
who will live with the challenge of the race and witness the events which
will hold our breath.
That biggest and the most authoritative winter sport forum will give
the unique opportunity to join the efforts of all responsible authorities,
organizations and institutions, of the public and the government, of the
athletes and all who help them give the best.
Accepting to host the two competition of the Men World Cup, Bulgaria
once again makes a step at the world ski track. We will witness two
of the most attractive disciplines of alpine skiing – Slalom and Super
combination, which will be a real challenge in front of us as organizers
and hosts.

all of you here in our country for the men’s 2011 FIS Alpine Ski World
Cup Bansko event. We are very proud to have you here in the heart of
the Balkans, at the foot of the magnificent ‘Pirin’ Mountains, and we
aim to combine this skiing festival with an exciting experience and true
friendship in new united Europe.
We are sure that these prestigious skiing competitions will make
you leave a piece of your heart in the Bansko area. We also strongly
believe that all our visitors, especially our future winners, will keep
great memories of the warm hospitality offered by the community
of Bansko and of the unforgettable beauty of the ‘Pirin’ mountains.
Our spectators on their side will remember the fair-plays and the
sportsmanship demonstrated by all the athletes while fighting hard to

The members or the National Ski Federation and the Organizing

Men’s Super Combined and Slalom
RULES:
The rules of the FIS Word Cup and the ICR of FIS shell apply. Racers from all NSA affiliated to FIS
are eligible to compete. The number of competitors per nation is determined according to the Rules
of Audi FIS World Cup 2010/2011 and FIS World Cup Quotas. Every competitor must own a national
licence and must have signed the FIS athletes declaration (art. 203 ICR)
Entry to the race course is allowed only to the persons with the FIS season course accreditation and
course accreditation issued by FIS Chief Race Director at the Team captains’ meeting.
The access to the certain restricted zones of Competition area will be in accordance with official
accreditations issued by the Organizer.
ENTRIES:
Preliminary entries stating the number of team members (competitors, coaches, physiotherapists,
doctors, service personnel and other officials) should be sent by: January 20, 2011 at the latest
Final entries with the definitive list of names, as well as the arrival and departure dates must be
sent on the official FIS entry forms by: February 18, 2011 at the latest

INSURANCE:
Each individual NSA is responsible for providing sufficient insurance for its participants (art. 204.2 ICR).
The Organizer accepts no responsibility for either accidents or any other damage during the training
or racing days, nor are they liable to third party claims.
TERMS OF CONTRACT
The requirements concerning condition and safety precautions of the race and training tracks go by
the International Ski Federation’s (FIS) various rules and current regulations, as well as the specific
regulations and ways of hosting the Alpine World Cup, and the specific rules and regulations as agreed
upon by the Organising Committee and the FIS whereas the jury’s ruling applies. Upon starting every
competitor confirms that he acknowledges the race course and safety precautions as adequate and
sufficient. Above all, the organiser cannot be held responsible for any particular faults in the course
and safety.

PROTESTS
Protests, if any, shell be submitted at the race office in the finish hut.
PRIZE MONEY AND TRAVEL EXPENSES
The prize money is in accordance with the World Cup Regulations –
Super Combined – 74’000€ and Slalom – 89’000€ and will be distributed as follows:

The mentioned prize money is the amounts before taxation. The Bulgarian State Tax (10%) will be
deducted from the prize money in accordance with Bulgarian Tax Law.
Prize money will be paid by bank transfer to the competitors’ accounts, in accordance with art 6 of
the Rules for the Alpine FIS Ski World Cup 2010/11.
The bank transfer confirmation will be sent to the competitors’ E-mail addresses within 7 days
after the end of the competition.
Competitors, who did not already submit the forms to the FIS office, may submit the filled-out
and signed official FIS forms for electronic payment of the prize money containing necessary
information, together with a photocopy of their passports to the Race Office at Hotel Strahzite
Travel expenses will be paid by bank transfer to the accounts of respective National Ski Associations,
in accordance with Article 5.4 of the Rules for the Alpine FIS Ski World Cup 2010/11.
Team captains must submit the filled-out and signed official FIS forms for electronic payment of
travel expenses containing necessary information, together with a photocopy of their passports
to the Race Office at Hotel Strahzite. Bank transfer confirmation will be sent by E-mail within
7 days after the end of the competition to the respective National Ski Associations.

Welcome to Bansko
Once you have visited this fantastic resort, you are certain to want to come back, because Bansko
offers the best and your pleasure here is guaranteed.
Bansko can be astoundingly diverse and cater for all tastes – from modern age buffs to admirers
of the authentic. The town has preserved its ancient cobbled streets and houses, some of which
date back to a hundred years. This is where Bansko’s unique charm stems from. The houses look
like monasteries with their high stonewalls and small shuttered windows. The real Bulgarian spirit
is hidden behind fortified walls and heavy gates in spacious rooms with wood-carved ceilings and
doors, hand-woven carpets and embroidered cushions, in the murals, icons and the fine iconostasis
of the Saint Trinity church.
The unique atmosphere of the town at the foot of the Pirin Mountain is enriched by the characteristic
sonority of Bansko male singing, the local sense of humor, the mature red wine and the delicious dishes
of traditional Bansko cuisine. The strange feel of the air is one of the most impressive experiences in
Bansko – something like smoke or smoldering pine. The magic feeling of something cozy and snug. In
the numerous local taverns with the exotic name „Mehana” you can sit comfortably, smile, feel the
warmth of the open fire and enjoy the soft flavor and the delicious taste of the local sausage called
„Old man”.

Getting there
By car Bansko lies in the South-Eastern part of
Bulgaria, at the tip of the Pirin National
Park. Once you arrive at the airport in Sofia
or Plovdiv, there are a number of ways to
travel to Bansko. Bansko lies two-and-ahalf
hours’ drive from Sofia, although the
journey time can lengthen to three or four
hours on busier weekends. Quickest route
is to take the main E79 south to Simitli,
from where a well-marked east-bound turn
leads over the Predela Pass to Bansko.
By air Closest airport: Sofia Airport.
By bus There are regular bus lines to major cities
in Bulgaria.

ULEN Lift Operator The lifts and ski runs operator in Bansko takes care of your maximum
comfort with our 8-man Gondola cable car by Doppelmayer, six 4-seat lifts of the latest
Doppelmayer models, one 3-seat lift by Poma, six drags and 10 baby drags. The easy access
to all lifts is secured by chip-cards from SkiData.
The existence of excellent quality crisp white snow on 70 kilometers of marked ski runs
and ski roads is made possible by their regular maintenance by 15 Kassbohrer snow
grooming machines. Snow is guaranteed from December until May by 181 TechnoAlpin
snow cannons.
ULEN Rent-a-Ski Our ski storage and rental facilities, furnished by brand new ski-rafts

Ski Competitions Bansko is organizer of European Ski Cup rounds and this season will
host AUDI FIS Ski World Cup for ladies with two starts in the most attractive alpine
ski disciplines – Downhill and Super Giant Slalom. Other popular events are: FIS Pirin
Cup, International Cup Kappi, Extreme Ski and Snowboard Competition Bansko and FIS

Parking, Hotels & Shuttle Service
The event organizers offer a special service to all visitors who travel by car. Bansko
spectators can take advantage of free rides on the special event shuttles to the finish
area and Bansko lift station. The shuttle bus time table will be available at the bottom
station of the Gondola lift, at accreditation office and at the venue hotel receptions.
